"I'm the reaper bahn, calm the arrival, tear it to the night"
A heavily experimental album that really works when it works, but misses at some other points. "Husks", "Seeplymouth", "Island" and "Still" are incredible, incredible musical excursions that rival Justin Vernon's best, but the meandering that becomes of the other tracks leave a lot to be desired. "Dote" is a pleasant ambience that divides the two sides of this album and "And Gather" is a nice short interlude of sorts.
"Mbira" unfortunately misses the mark in listenability, it a little too bare and dissonant for me. I do like the vocals on it, though. "Cool Knowledge" is again more of a short sound excursion than a song and the finale "Youlogy" almost cushions the eruption of "Still", which deserves the title of closer far more. Overall, a fascinating journey into sound exploration that provides a flurry of beauty.
