I don't know about the project as a whole, but for some songs, I really can't explain why I fw them so heavy. I learned that its pointless to complain about mixing on an underground album but if some songs were just cleaner, the bass was turned down and overall felt fuller, this album would benefit in ways unexplainable. Ill say a Great Chaos never lets down the energy, and Ken's selection of glitchy rage and electronic beats is the reason why that is. Ken himself is hit or miss. He is able to get in some good pockets like Me N My Kup (its hard to fuck up that beat), I need u, Jennifer's Body and Green Room. This will forever be Kanyes most overlooked album in his discography. A 24 song album thats as lyrically clever, lush sounding, and culturally moving is a feat. Love every song on this album.
An album with a false sense of hype and a lost sense of direction. I always thought the general consensus of this album upon release went from top of the pyramid hype to instant disappointment, because when it comes to later Drake releases, we cling on to the “we want old drake” feeling. In my opinion, this album has high highs and LOW lows. Overhated
