After relistening, I wanna highlight the song "Gorgeous" in particular. The lyrics on this song are a great example on why you shouldn't underrate Kanye as a rapper. His political commentary on this track tends to go under the radar due to the other highlights on the tracklist, but this might be my favorite Kanye song I've ever heard. From Cudi's smooth hook, to Raekwon's ferocious performance, to Kanye's perfect verses, there's so much to love. Kanye ... read more
No way they got a GLaDOS feature on "1969"🤯🤯
The atmosphere here is so damn good. It's spooky, addicting, and even a lil bit divine. The tracklist isn't that strong, but that's not really the point of the experience. This project is meant for sinking into the world and sound, in which is does so perfectly. I guess I'm just really fascinated by the unique nature of this lol. Sometimes pretentious slop is pretty cool.
hella fun, unique and eclectic sound, super returnable, and has great political commentary?? God bless the USA
While i think the songwriting is a step up from SftD, I don't like the sound, tracklist, and vibe quite as much. But at the end of the day, still a banger of an album
shockingly consistent tracklist for the number of songs it has. Not a single song below an 8/10 imo. I also loved the classroom sections a lot, they made me smile. I wish the album finished off with one tho, would've been a really heartwarming send-off.
An example of something I can appreciate the objectively great qualities of but just doesn't move me personally. The lyricism and sampling are great. The reoccurring themes of JID's upbringing and people from his past are executed well. The highlights in the tracklist are there. I even really like the Neo-Soul aspects. But JID's voice, flow, and general sound just don't "wow" me. The hook on Bruddanem sucks ngl😭😭 I understand why this is so highly rated, and ... read more
oldheads back in the day would call this "the Devil's music"😭😭🙏🙏 really cool how they balance their political messages with a fun and funky sound
i know this an ice cold take, but it's runtime is too long, and there's too much bloat.
A lot of the runtime resides in tracks that just don't need to be that long😭😭 The "Apple Jam" section was totally unnecessary imo. It didn't really bring any great tracks, and it only added to the already somewhat-lengthy runtime. If you make this album more concise by cutting weaker tracks and lowering the total length to like 1h, you can pop out a 9/10 experience fs. ... read more
I don't think it's slop, but it just doesn't move me tbh. it's sounds like a lot of noise lol. not saying it doesn't require talent, it just doesn't strike me personally as a special listen. too bad I'm missing out✌️
ayo bro, put on that new Swans🙏🙏
it's like a movie in audio form. disc 2 is just an hour straight of heat. while it's probably not something it'd return to often, it's a phenomenal first listen
The moment the beat dropped on the first track, i knew peggy was finna cook up sum different. unfortunately, it didn't really land for me. the Charlie Kirk mention in "The 1st Amendment" was pretty funny tho😭😭 I KNEW he would mention him
96-->100. I will defend this nerdy masterpiece with my life.
Go ahead and call me a geek. go on and call me a loser. But PLEASE inject this virgin slop into my bloodstreams. The first half is one of my favorite halves of an album that I've ever heard. It's one of my favorite 5-song runs ever. I consistently find myself returning to this on a monthly basis, just because the vibe makes me smile. The tracklist is literally perfect, nothing even close to a skip for me. Not to mention ... read more
knicks in 4. Freddie was talking ab sum "we owned yall in the 90s" WE DONE WITH THE 90s. anyway, really good album.
