By far the best thing that they've ever put out, MAN BITES DOG is an incredible improvement from the "rave slop" singles of their past, truly leaning into their Digital Hardcore stylings. Sadly, all the same complaints of derivative writing and samish tracks can apply. There's nothing wrong with wearing your influences on your sleeve, but when that's all you have on it's just tacky.
At the crossroads of BIG|BRAVE and John Zorn lies Backengrillen, a bloated corpse rotting in the sun that you fail to turn away from. Heavy distortion and far out performances across the record, these guys bring forth a great, while repetitive, first showing. Can't wait to see what else these guys do!
I cannot understand the hype behind this record. Behind its hyper-meta songwriting and its easy listening production, there's nothing for me to care about when it comes to what she's saying. Not a single song on here is worth revisiting, and dragging this out to almost an hour just feels like a personal waste of time.
