I'm very new to music like this, so it's hard for me to fully appreciate everything on this album and I will have to revisit it a lot, but some of the songs on this blew me away. There were a few that will take me a while to adjust to, but Atrophy:Angel and tripping > wires were amazing.
I used to hate this album (and the band as a whole with the exception of maybe three songs), but after returning to it for the first time in 6 or 7 years, this might be one of my favourite albums of all time. Black Label and Terror and Hubris In the House of Frank Pollard are incredible songs and unlike anything I've ever heard before. I love how each Deftones album has its own distinct style, but it's sad that we never got anything else like this. The closest to this sound is probably Headup from Around The Fur, but even then (as much as I love that song and album) it just doesn't have the same feeling as this album does. The only song I dislike on this album is 7 Words, because it feels like it just doesn't do anything special that the other songs don't already do but better. Fireal is a perfect album ... read more
