Pinned Review

TX2 - Randy McNally (No Love Like Christian Hate)
10

I want to start this review with yes, I’m a gatekeeper. Punk has to be gatekept to some amount. Without it, it’s nothing. But I tried to stay open minded for this one.
This song comes off as a very unauthentic critique of religion and how it plays a role in some people’s hate. It’s just so cliche and has no depth. If you say homophobes using Christianity to hate is wrong, it’s true, but it isn’t anything new. Every atheist on Reddit has said this a million ... read more

I can’t say Manning Fireworks was instantly amazing to me, not until I fell in love with the track “Rip Torn”, one of the lowest rated songs on this album. Manning fireworks is vulnerable, humble, and sometimes a little funny. I even found some tracks a little fun, like “Bark at the Moon.” It’s been a while since I felt such honesty coming from a record. “Manning Fireworks” is just what I needed.

“Joy as an Act of Resistance” may be one of the most important pieces of art ever made in my lifetime.
IDLES makes their message very clear: LOVE IS ALL, AND ALL IS LOVE.
This album is vulnerable. And it’s okay to be.
This album has been such a huge inspiration for me. It’s taught me it’s okay to cry, that vulnerability is okay and can be beautiful.
And in a broader lense, its genuine passion for ideas IDLES cares deeply about.

IDLES, Thank you.

In this album I find strength in love and power in gratitude. I often get ahead of myself, letting anger get ahead of the wheel. But this album was almost like a manifesto, a new set of ideas, morals that make me want to continue on.
Even in the slow moments of this album you can feel the passion. I see the vision for this project, and I think it’s done amazingly.

Chat Pile - God’s Country

Chatpile’s “God’s Country” is truly disturbing and masterfully crafted.
When you really boil down the lyrics and realize the substance, this record will make you feel empathy, pity, sorrow and love. This album will make you care. It calls out the truth that’s been haunting us that we don’t want to face.
The irony of calling America “God’s Country” slaps you in the face while listening to this album.

Carnivore - Carnivore
90

Carnivore’s self- titled debut is by far one of the best metal debut albums I have ever heard. If you’re familiar with Type O, I extremely recommend giving Carnivore a shot. Especially if you really enjoy the work on “Slow, deep, and hard” and still have a need for speed.
Driving guitars you can drown in, Peter’s dreamy yet haunting vocal performances (along with the more fast paced vocal parts), and disgusting yet beautifully delivered lyrics.
