Where Shine Again gave me Blue Album vibes, We Might As Well Be Strangers feels more akin to something you'd find on a much later Weezer release, although, while modern Weezer is mostly mediocre or just decent, this track is a banger just like their last.

If Weezer manages to crack the top 5 best albums of the year in 2026, I will be surprised, but very glad. And for what it's worth, I think they're on track to do so.

Between this track and We Might As Well Be Strangers, I'm excited for the Gold Album in a way that not all Weezer albums make me.

Shine Again goes insanely hard and has a very Blue Album-y vibe, and like every song on that album, it feels incredibly distinct and memorable, which is something that often holds back Weezer tracks post-Pinkerton, in my opinion.

Blue Morpho is a very pretty and relaxing album that I could see myself using quite a bit as background noise.

Inferno shows that Boards of Canada have still got it, even after such a long hiatus, in which, as far as I'm aware, they hadn't released any other music.

While not exactly what I would call their best work, this album provides some very beautiful, lush and unique soundscapes which are a joy to experience, and that's really all I need from BoC.

After seeing that Vince Staples dropped another new single, I decided to listen to both, and holy shit, this is sick.

I have high hopes for Cry Baby after what I've just heard.

This was my most anticipated release of 2026 up to this point, and did it deliver? Well, kinda.

First of all, I want to say that the standout tracks on this album go SO hard, with heavy beats, crazy production, and that Peggy edge that I love, all of which were expected, but will never get old to me.

Metal that isn't Thrash, classic 70s, or Death (the band) typically goes very underappreciated on AOTY, so I'm glad that this got a chance to be number 1 of 2026, even if I know it has no chance of sticking around.

A very good single for what is probably my most highly anticipated album right now

I never got Charli xcx the way that most people seemed to, but even as someone who doesn't typically find her work to be exceptional, this just feels so incredibly beneath her

Found this while looking for music to play in a Cyberpunk RED campaign, and I ended up listening to the whole thing

Another recently left review said, "This is THE record to play when the apocalypse comes", which is exactly why I've been playing it a lot lately

One of their best albums, The Mountain has tracks that are beautiful, catchy and fun, with the influences being very clear; they adopted this sound near-perfectly. This was well worth the wait.

The greatest Shoegaze record of all time, and among the best of all time just in general, Souvlaki is simply gorgeous, and while it's not exactly a hot take, I have to say that When the Sun Hits is one of the best songs ever written

This is one of my favourite albums of all time; it's my idea of a perfect "heartbreak" kind of project.

I was never much of a J. Cole fan, but man, I expected this to be better, considering how long he was working on this project

I did like some specific moments on this album, but it was mostly just pretty cool beats with generally uninteresting rapping, save for a few really sick sections

Uh oh, I disagree with the popular opinion...

Yeah, I mean, it's nowhere near Kanye's best work, and there are some noticeable flaws (namely the album being too long/overstaying its welcome), but I think this is much more bearable than Donda 1; Donda 2 doesn't try the same experimental style of its predecessor, of which I found quite annoying, and there are a decent number of songs I found enjoyable to some extent here.
