No need for a long review here, this is just not my thing. It sounds well done for what it's going for, it just does nothing for me at all.
"iwillraponanything" & "starbrighterthanthesun" are the 2 cuts I feel a bit more positive towards, with the latter being the one i'm the closest to liking, I just think it would've been a lot better with less distortion. "dummy2" is just... really confusing melodically and I dd not like whiteruntz at all ... read more
I'll go against what I've seen been said about this album: the instrumental pieces are in general the best part of this album to me. "I Don't Want To Wake Up" is far and away the best song here, with beautiful keys all around. "Art Galleries", "Trying" and "What's Wrong?" are other cuts I am quite fond of, and while not as eargrabbing, the "14", "16" & "18" interludes help decently with the structure ... read more
The Polaroid Collection, DBLE_T's first true album under Iridescence, an album I have made a lot of contributions to, having prod credits on 10 of the 18 songs, as well as providing 2 features and helping mix 2 other songs. I'm going to start by addressing the negatives ... read more
So, I decided to revisit this album for the first time since it came out, and I think it did even less for me on this listen.
I'll go straight into it, the biggest issue is the production. With the overall darker tone and lyrical themes of this album, of course I'm not expecting the upbeat synthy production of RRII or GENRE: FEMBOY to compose this album, I understand what it goes for and why, but dude... so much of it is so generic and flat. Most of this album is composed of either ... read more
My biggest praise of this project is that it is mostly really well produced, especially the first 3 songs.
Now, I'll be honest, this is a music genre that doesn't really appeal to me, but I still had a pretty decent time with this EP.
If I can give it some criticism that isn't just "this doesn't appeal to me", I feel like while most of the singing on this project, while not being amazing, is fine for what the EP goes for, some sections do leave a bit to be ... read more
