once i heard of this album from a video one day, i never thought we'd see it on streaming platforms but here we are. this album sounds a lot different compared to "Faces" which dropped around the same time he was making this. this album however is still a really good listen with interesting production, deep/thought-provoking lyrics and all around just very good songs. i strongly recommend checking this out if you are a Mac fan or are currently running through his discography
this my first Childish Gambino album in a hot minute and this is far from what i was expecting, didn't know he used to make music like this. about the album tho, it's good however at times towards the end i feel like he's trying to do way to much in one song and the quality of the tracks go down a bit, they're still alright but could've been a lot better. this album also drags out a little bit to long however all the songs are still tolerable by the end. only rating the deluxe tracks:
all of these could've been added onto the actual album and it would all still work out really well, might've even improved the album in a way but idk. anyway, these new 8 tracks are absolutely phenomenal especially in a lyrical way, Cole flows over all these beats with really strong storytelling or messaging throughout. all around, very solid deluxe tracks.
only deluxe tracks:
these 5 new tracks are very solid and sound very much like the original album and contrast with the rest of the album nicely. about the tracks now though, they're all very solid and kinda follow the same rules/structure as the main tracks on KOTMS which i really enjoy. all the flows, beats and features are all solid and obviously Denzel pops off. very nice deluxe.
only rating the deluxe tracks:
idk why this is a deluxe because this feels like a new album. anyway, this is a really nice collection of tracks that all feel very nice, some of the lyrics aren't the greatest but i find are very easy to ignore and this feels like more like background noise than something to pay a lot of attention to anyway. the production is smooth and a little bit dreamy at times and SZA's vocals are very beautiful and fit everything very nicely (like normal).
