Nearly banger after banger! There's a few weaker songs unfortunately but overall this is an excellent album! Rockier than her debut, with a lot more personality and Kelly has a lot more opportunity to showcase her vocal ability. The singles are classics and the album tracks are mostly really strong... One bad note, why the hell does Breakaway sound like it was recorded on a phone?!
Highlights for me are Since I Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because of You, Addicted and Hear Me.

We're serious artists now, OK?!?!
This album definitely has the vibe of the band wanting to sound a bit more mature and less all out angst, but it's a bit heavy on mediocre ballads to be anything really exceptional. It's great overall, but it definitely has weak moments... I'm looking at you In Between.
Highlights for me are Bleed it Out, What I've Done, No More Sorrow and The Little Things Give You Away.
Siouxsie and the Banshees decided to go slightly psychedelic
and poppier on this release, although it was more of a result of using studio techniques (and drugs) than a specific writing choice. It mostly works, with a few of songs that are a bit weaker. Siouxsie really drives a lot of these songs, her voice sounds excellent throughout and on the few songs that struggle she still manages to sell it. It's great the band decided to experiment a bit more and it makes for a really enjoyable ... read more
I think everyone knew where Geri would go with her first solo album, but I don't think anyone really knew what road the, arguably, strongest singer of the Spice Girls would go down... It turns out to be a moody Ray of Light!
A really strong solo debut from Mel C, it's mature and she manages to show off her personality somewhat, although she's definitely more successful at this further in her career. Some of the songs are a bit basic, the more acoustic numbers are definitely the ... read more
Essentially Hybrid Theory sequel, but unlike most sequels it's better! More refined, whilst being harder with a bit more variety and more consistency. Not much to add, it's just all very excellent.
Highlights for me are Faint, Breaking The Habit, Figure.09 and Numb (obviously).
IIIEEEE really like this album. It's got weird bits, seriously bagpipes?! but mostly it's back to straightforward rock and blues. It's got a real sense of fun and energy about it, it's a shame it'll probably be the last White Stripes album, but it's also a fitting end.
Highlights for me are Icky Thump, You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told), Conquest, Little Cream Soda and Rag and Bone (this place is like a mansion!)
R.I.P. Paul Di'Anno.
I was wondering when to dive into Iron Maiden, one of my favourite bands, and this seemed like a pretty good time.
What a great debut! There's so much packed into 37 minutes, it definitely lacks the finesse of Maiden's best albums, but as their first album that's to be expected. There's also flashes of the band they'd become, Phantom of the Opera wouldn't sound out of place on Number of the Beast. They haven't quite found their sound ... read more
Has anyone told you to not dance P!nk? If anything we want you to dance more because this is a SLOG. Seriously, has anyone checked on her? Is she OK?
Not much to say about this, it's just pretty bland and boring. I can't even recall what any song sounds like other than TRUSTFALL which is actually a pretty great song, better than anything on her last album.
Highlights for me are TRUSTFALL.
Oh man, this is when P!nk really starts to dip. Middle age has really made her just a bit boring. On some of the songs even she sounds bored. I wouldn't say there's anything bad, and there are a couple of songs a like, but the majority of it is just meh... Basically it's slightly saved by the few upbeat numbers.
Highlights for me are (Hey Hey) Miss You Sometime, Walk Me Home and 90 Days
This actually started off solid, I quite liked the first 3 songs and then it was pretty much all downhill after that. Just bland country light ballads with absolutely nothing about them... Not offensive, or even unenjoyable for the most part, just there.
Highlights for me are Lost Highway, Summertime and (You Want to) Make a Memory
In the run up to release this was billed as Tension's offcuts and honestly, I think it delivered on that. Nowhere near as strong as Tension for me, but still pretty solid. It certainly has some issues, some of the shorter tracks barely make an impression and Kylie sounds unrecognizable at times. However, I feel like the point is just to have half an hour of something that you can dance to... I also quite like the collaborations, don't @ me.
Highlights for me are Lights Camera Action, ... read more
Honestly, better than it should be. Clarkson's voice works overtime on selling some fairly mediocre Syco material and its a pretty enjoyable listen. It's fairly generic, apart from a few songs, it's firmly in the talent show winner first album category. What shines is Clarkson's voice and when she gets the opportunity to flex those songs really work.
Highlights for me are The Trouble With Love, Miss Independent and Anytime
Geri was the personality of the Spice Girls so why on earth she released something so bland as her debut is beyond me. There are flashes of great stuff, basically when she gets by on personality rather than voice. However, there are far too many songs that require a strong voice and sadly Halliwell is not up to that task. It's not all bad though, when she leans into the brash and camp it actually works really fucking well! Bag it Up is an anthem, and Look at Me was an amazing first single. ... read more
This is one is a bit of a mixed bag, the majority of it is pretty great don't get me wrong but there are a few songs that interrupt the flow of the album. There is a nice groove to a lot of the songs which I quite like, and some songs build really nicely, but then it gets stops and there's something a bit meandering that comes up next. Still, overall great, just not quite up there with the best.
Highlights for me are 2+2=5, Sail to the Moon and A Wolf At The Door.
I haven't listened to Linkin Park since I was a teenager when they were first around and so I was unsure what I'd actually think of this now and I still absolutely loved it! Music to be played at high volume whilst screaming out the chorus. If the album was any longer I think it would start to get a bit old, but at 38 minutes it's a perfect dose of energy. Great vocals, great production, great songs.
Highlights for me are Papercut, One Step Closer, Crawling and In The End
Sit back and enjoy, the real McCoy!
Another excellent album from the band, improving on everything they've done before to create their most consistent and unsettling album yet, perfect for October π. Siouxsie sounds excellent, there are fast catchy songs and slow burns too... Just an all round brilliant album.
Highlights for me are Spellbound, Monitor and Sin in My Heart.
Not too dissimilar from their first album, just more consistent! It's a real fun time, the singles shine, Viva Forever is obviously their best song. They all sound more confident, but Mel C really shines throughout. It's a shame Geri had to go ruin it by leaving π
Highlights for me are Spice Up Your Life, Stop, Too Much and Viva Forever
Well this was a surprise, a solid post Keep The Faith Bon Jovi album! There's still cheese, and there's a dip in the middle, but overall I really quite enjoyed it. It's a lot more upbeat than Bounce, which was nice. It's nothing spectacular and a couple of songs could be cut and how on earth JBJ can think he can still sing about being an everyman is beyond me (somehow Springsteen can still get way with it, I don't make the rules π€·). However, it's a solid set of ... read more
These old guys are still horny! What a mess of an album. Tyler's voice is definitely reaching it's end and he shouldn't be trying to sing like he's still in his prime because it just sounds painful. Perry shouldn't sing at all. Some of the music is actually pretty good, there are parts that sound like they could be from a 70's Aerosmith album, but a lot of the lyrics are terrible and the rest just sounds messy. Such a shame that this is probably the last album of a ... read more
