Falling in Reverse if the frontman wasn't a piece of shit but still couldn't write good songs remake one of their worst written songs in a heavier style. Really lads? I used to love your music. Why not remake something like The Haunting?
I'm... Kinda disappointed. But only because he's playing it somewhat safe. Which means he's still serving the good shxt he cooked up on his last three albums.
This is a slow burn compared to most of Tyler's albums, thus reminding me of Flower Boy. It has beautifully sung passages with stories, thus reminding me of IGOR. It's got bangers on bangers, thus reminding me of CMIYGL and sometimes even his older albums. It's a safe album, but that's fine by me ... read more
GLIMMAH O' GAWD BRUV YE
This is Jean's peak. The production and vocals are next level compared to CHAOS NOW*. Every song has me vibing and headbanging at a bus stop with tons of people. Lyrics have always been a strong point for me and that's true for this album too. I'm gonna need to give it one more listen before I put a rating but it's gonna be over 90 for sure.
Post-Second listen edit: NR > 94
Yep. Love it.
Love ya Jean. Keep up the good work✨
This kind of feels like a fumble from Glaive, and that's coming from someone who defends him a lot. There's a bunch of cool ideas, but the entire thing feels more like a collection of almost-done demos that could use a couple more weeks in the oven. 60.000 ISK is a banger though.
This is my 200th review. I'm writing this as I go along listening to Converge's Jane Doe.
[Fault and Fracture]
So why is this album held so high as one of the best metal albums of all time exactly?
Don't get me wrong it's a fucking brutal assault of the eardrums, but the only thing I can understand from the vocalist is a constant screaming of "dark again!"
[Hell to Pay]
No wait... I'm starting to get it.
Fuck me the guitars are insane.
And I don't even ... read more
Hm.
It's alright. Nothing much to add here. My main complaints stem from some songs that were unnecessarily long and some songs that were a bit too boring. But it's pretty good nonetheless. Thumbs up type beat.
So is the 143 how long ago this music should have come out?
Insanely mediocre dance music produced by Dr. Luke, only improved by having decent instrumentals, a sick JID feature and two actually fine songs towards the end (including the one with JID).
Still, basically sleeping pills.
With an even split of three heavy tracks and three electronic vibe tracks, House of Protection show off their strengths mainly in the hardcore department. It's a quick taste of what this project is all about, but I personally want them to stay in the lane of Metal.
The Disenchanted slander will not be tolerated in the Animuru House.
This album hasn't aged a single day. A masterpiece of concept albums, theatre-core and hard rock in 2006 and one of the best albums of all time to this very day.
Long live The Black Parade! The Black Parade is Dead!
Man I hope all the shit Tyron's in isn't real because I need more Slowthai music
TYRON is a two-part journey from Toughguy Tyron to Volnurable, introspective Tyron. The second half is where he excels at writing and delivering his emotions, while the first part shows he can still do the good ol' bri'ish drill.
Not as good as UGLY, better than NGAB.
Please come back...
Thrown? more like YEETED right in your face.
Pretty standard 'beatdown' metalcore with some electronic elements. It feels like a mix of Knocked Loose and some early BMTH just toned down and simplified. It's fine for a quick kick of energy and a singleplayer moshpit in your room, and I'm sure they go hard AF live. That's pretty much it though. Nothing super interesting or new.
This album continues to hold the spot of my second-most favourite album of all time. This is peak Twenty One Pilots with amazing instrumentation and songwriting alongside incredible worldbuilding and emotional vulnerability. For me, this album and the subsequent tour are literal lifesavers. Thank you, Tyler and Josh, for keeping me here.
i am not listening to another hour of sleepy playboi carti copycats. i refuse.
Falling in reverse is a band that is ruined by having Ronnie Radke in it. The instrumentals (when they're actually metal) are pretty damn good and some of the breakdowns go crazy hard. But Ronnie Radke is... well, Ronnie Radke.
The clown of the metalcore world is back at it again, making Tom McDonald metal.
Prequel is just an NF song.
Bad Guy is just trash.
Trigger Warning is a Trump rally intro.
No Fear is Tom McDonald (also a song where he complains about people copying him and then ... read more
I only just got around to checking out these guys, now I wish I did it sooner. Holy moly Batman this is epic.
DAMN PEGGY, GIMME MORE OF THOSE GUITARS
Peggy is great at making amazing and unique beats that pretty much only he know how to rap over, which continues on this album, with a mix of rock/metal beats and aethereal experiences towards the end. Very much worth the wait, though I wish there were more of those hardass guitar beats.
This is exactly what I wanted from a Post-Nurture Porter Robinson album. Just having fun while keeping the deep lyrical themes and amazing writing. This is one of my favourite albums of all time. Every song feels like it's from one album, yet they are all unique in their own right.
I'm off to buy tickets to the Berlin show, see you there
