Tommy Wiseau's brother dropped an instant classic

Pusha T - DAYTONA

Disappointed that he said "yugh" only 3 times

Why would you go to Wendy's when you can whip some Hamburger Helper at home?

Lauryn Hill and those two other guys made a pretty good album.

Big K.R.I.T. - 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time
82

It took me a while to gather my thoughts on this. On the one hand, it's a great idea for a double LP: one side is dedicated to rapping, and the second is for singing and is more gospel-oriented. It works, but the second half is weaker than the first. This could have been great, probably a classic if it was executed more effectively. That being said, it is still fantastic.
Southern legends like CeeLo, T.I., and Bun B are on this. Lloyd's feature was weak, but I get the appeal of the club track ... read more

A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm
86

The beginning of one of the most influential groups of the 90s. It is a great project with jazzy production. But the MC's lack confidence. Q-Tip has a few awkward moments where he tries to pack in more syllables than there are in a bar. Phife Dawg is not on this enough; from his verse on the first song, you'll have to wait until the 8th track to hear another verse from him. The production is good with groovy bass-lines and great samples.
Overall, solid debut that introduced the world to A Tribe ... read more

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

Highly influential album that defined Hip Hop on both coasts. ATCQ gained confidence and grew from their last album. The ostensibly basic production contains great samples and is the gold standard of east coast jazz rap. The rhymes are exceptional, and I was glad to see that Phife Dawg was on this more than he was on People's Instinctive Travels. Phifer and Q-Tip spit some of the greatest verses of all time and the jazzy production is artful and boosts the lyrics. The

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

This popularized mafioso rap, with a loose narrative about Rae and Ghost trying to get out of crime and go legit. It plays like a movie, and the cast is excellent. Chef Rae cooks up some epic rhymes, Starks brings his swagger and his Wallabees, and surprisingly Nas is on this (which is the first time a non Wu-Tang member was featured on a Wu-Tang project) and bodies Verbal Intercourse. Ice Cream bumps in the whip. The RZA production is obviously fantastic, his trademark minimal beats have great ... read more

Q doesn't say anytHing Here tHat He Hasn't said on previous projects, but tHe extra-gritty TDE production and His flows are tHe best of His career. Groovy Tony/ Eddy Kane Has a great Jadakiss feature and tHat beat switcH is ungodly. THat Part is a fun song, but I tHink tHat tHe Black Hippy version is better. Vince goes Hard on tHe street antHem Ride Out. By Any Means Has a really catcHy Hook. THe Anderson.Paak feature on Blank Face is magnificent. Traffic goes off on Tookie Knows II. Made a classic then went mainstream. It's pretty good but it's a disappointing follow-up to one of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time.

Freddie Gibbs - Pronto

Short but great EP, it's only 3 tracks long so give it a listen.
Murky and moody production that bumps but can still be chill.
White range sounds like a 9th Wonder trap beat.
Gangsta Gibbs brings his swagger, but he eases off the aggressiveness for the more delicate moments. This and Pinata are my favorite projects of his.

Jay Rock - 90059

Jay Rock had an excellent verse on my Kendrick's Money Trees, my favorite song. I've heard some of his music and it's enjoyable but nothing has blown me away. It's the same here. Not a bad album, but there are few memorable moments here. Production isn't bad, but nothing impressive.

Fav tracks: Easy Bake, Gumbo, Vice City, Money Trees Deuce.

Lil Pump - Lil Pump

I regard Illmatic, Madvillainy, and Enter the Wu-Tang as the best Hip Hop albums of all time; three fantastic albums that were each influential for their respective times. But they are nothing when compared to this; this transcends the genre. It transcends all art ever created. It flows through consciousness and reveals inner truths that no philosopher living or dead ever came close to realizing. I cried for 5 hours after listening to this until there were no tears left, because I realized how ... read more

The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde
92

An album that manages to be tongue-in-cheek and sincere at the same time. Has that nostalgic feeling of when you return to your childhood home and the memories come flooding back: the good, the bad, and the ugly. That girl you had a crush on back in school has moved on, your old homies are now just Facebook friends, and all that you have to remember your rambunctious childhood is a few scars. But you remember these moments like they were yesterday. Creatural mistakes are laughed at and ... read more

Denmark Vessey - Martin Lucid Dream

I thought this would get a least a couple ratings since it was on a DEHH year end list of 2015.

This is what happens when you smoke too much weed and watch a documentary about civil rights during the 1960s.
It's weird as hell, but there is great wordplay and some truth said on here "everybody want to be a nigga till the cops come". The beats are simple but feature some interesting instrumentation that ties the project together (that Kill Bill sound is on a few songs).

This album is solid showing of weed induced party anthems and sobering street cuts.
Q's voice guarantees that he will never make a bad record.
