I feel like 'Harry's House' has high highs and semi-low lows; nothing is unlistenable. There are many things that I like about this album. I like Harry's experimentation with his use of more electronic sounds; he has shown us he can do acoustic music fairly well, and it's cool to hear things I haven't heard from him before. I like how the album starts, and I wish it ended with the same power 'Music For a Sushi Restaurant' gives us; he should have done ... read more
Phoebe Bridgers' 'Punisher' is a perfect album. I think the whole theme of an oversharing Elliott Smith fan melds perfectly with every single song (excluding 'DVD Menu') on this album. The theme of relationships is consistenly present all throughout this project, whether Phoebe writes about her father or significant other(s). There are also many other topics discussed on 'Punisher', and it's rare that you see an album that touches on many different ... read more
I first listened to 'I Heard That Noise' when I was painting my fence. I saw a review on this album that describes it as a long-needed hug. I couldn't agree more. Although lyrically melancholy, Graham engulfs us in a variety of noises that left me feeling like I could feel more emotion after my first listen, if that makes any sense at all. The concept of sounds reminding Graham of a breakup with a previous lover while also using sounds to invoke the same emotions in his listeners ... read more
'Vanisher' is Quadeca's most striking piece of art yet. I love a lot about this album. I love how each song tells a story both lyrically and sonically; you will find his best soundscapes on this project. It is one of the most immersive bodies of work I have ever heard. I love how many cross-references and transitions there are between songs; it makes the story feel organized and continual, and keeps me engaged as a listener. I do wish the intro track, 'NO QUESTIONS ... read more
Quadeca's 'I Didn't Mean to Haunt You' is a perfect album. The nostalgia I felt when I first listened to this album is unexplainable; it doesn't make sense because I haven't heard anything like this before. Various sounds and instruments Ben uses throughout this project remind me of when I used to play 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' on my 3DS late at night. I feel like in a way this album was made for me; there are many others that would agree. ... read more
Bon Iver's '22, A Million' is a perfect album. There are few albums that make me feel the same way that this one does. There are few albums that make me feel that same way every fucking time. There is creativity in production, Justin's sonorous falsetto, and lyrical emotion in every single song; from '22 (OVER S∞∞N)' to '00000 Million'. This album truly feels like the culmination of his career. It's absolutely gorgeous, and I highly, ... read more
Remi's debut EP sets her apart from many new-gen artists from the get-go by the strengths of her raw vocal talent, waggish songwriting, and captivating production (with Solomonophonic, of course). 'You're a Dog!' has a distinct sound that is honest and psychedelic; it feels like a groovy house party with not too many people filling each room. The first five tracks feel very cohesive and make sense together; leaving out 'Shawty', which I think would have fit better ... read more
