As an album, this may not be the most forward thinking, innovative or creative album of our time, but it sure is intoxicating. Albums like these should be listened to and the best songs should be put on a playlist. At least that's how I go about it. These tracks bring a vibe like no other, that may be shared with a special someone. That's everything I'll say about that. Favorites are Things change, Sorrows and Next To You.
The latest album in The Weeknd's discography ends this discography dive I've been embarking on for the past two days. This is the sequel to After Hours and it doesn't disappoint. Dawn FM offers a new addition of Synthpop songs that propelled Abel Tesfaye into the spotlight during quarantine. Tracks like Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears were monumental for that year, the former becoming his most streamed song. Coming back to Dawn FM, the album shares a lot of similarities with its ... read more
How emotional is this song on a scale of 1-10. If your answer is more than 10, you share the same appreciation for this single from my favorite artist, Kanye West. It's written from the perspective of Kanye's late mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2007, long before the birth of her nephews and nieces. She's speaking to his son from heaven and giving him words of encouragement and asking him to "Tell Nori about me". North West, Kanye's first daughter and her grandmother were never ... read more
I'm thinking what I should say about this song. I don't know anyone who doesn't love this. The jumpy beat attributed by the percussion and the groovy, rhythmic bass under it all are utterly alluring and impossible to resist. The chorus aided by a type of choir is beautiful, memorable and instantly recognizable. Then we have the outstanding energetic performance of Andre 3000. One can tell that this song is not just any 2000s Pop Rap energy booster. It's much more than that. The lyrics, ... read more
Debut TheWeeknd! Wicked Games and Twenty Eight are great, among others.
Tyler's best. Enjoyable songs paired with a storyline.
UPDATE:
I feel that I have to provide a more complete review as this album is very good. It is a breakup album that can be enjoyed by anyone and that is not limited only to people who are going through emotional hurt at the moment. This album is groovy thanks to songs like EARFQUAKE, I THINK and GONE, GONE / THANK YOU. It is also sometimes hard-hitting on tracks like the intro IGOR'S THEME, WHAT'S GOOD and the unexpected NEW MAGIC WAND. I ... read more
This deserves all the praise it gets. Blonde contains songs that on their own could be some of the best songs of the decade like Self Control and especially White Ferrari.
The worst mixtape in the trilogy, primarily because of the length. This is longer than a football game.
The second mixtape in the trilogy is a clear improvement on the first one, containing more melodic driven tracks that are more appealing.
This is not a good mixtape but at this time, I don't think Ufo had found his sound yet.
