A more underground record but an extremley well produced and well envisioned record nontheless, the energy and atmosphere ''Somrak'' manages to create is brutal and terrifying
Tracks like ''Glorification In Loss And Missery'' and ''Lux Nova'' (which i will add the strange raw almost breaking vocals were insanely good for this track) really stood out to me
FIrst full album from Gojira i listened too, and i can say it didnt disapoint
I throughly enjoyed the way the instrumantation was mixed and the way in most tracks it built up and the progression of the tracks really felt that it had a purpose it didnt feel like meaningless progression for the sake of instrumental show-off-erry
''Ocean Planet''; ''To Sirius''; ''Global Warming''; and of course ''Flying Whales'' were ... read more
As of writing this review im not that into metalcore BUT i decided to take a chance on this record since ill be seeing knocked loose open for Metallica so i said why not
SUPRSINGLY i enjoyed this record a lot more then i thought i would, instrumentation was produced really well and the riffs were fun breakdowns felt actually heavy and not cliche or cheesy
Tracks like ''Take Me Home""; ''Blinding Faith'' and ''The Calm That Keeps You ... read more
A good fast paced dark bleak and definetley HEAVY black metal record. Production was super fun sounded crisp while maintaining a certain rawness and the vocals were great lots of fun great record
Definitely one of the best records to come out of the German Post Punk scene
Complex and ambitious manages to pull of so many different things and balance a really instresting experimental aproach super good record
Extremeley good on so many levels from the vocals to the overall performances on the instruments definetley worth listening to
A couple of really good songs but some either fall drab and boring or go overboard with the campyness
one of the best pieces of ''modern'' black ive heard in a while. Guitar work was steller too.
Pretty good but not anything wow imo the tracks they wrote were good woman of dark desires was a nice cover but the in conspiracy with satan cover kind of blew
The love i have for this album cannot be understated. I adore this glorious work of art, everything from the production to the instruments to the tracks and how they're written both from an instrumental perspective through the sheer brutality but still a level of experimentality to all of it on tracks like 'braided into palsy' the masterfully concepted atmosphere shreds through everything its brutal and i mean brutal, but maintains a strangely doomy feel to it adding atop the ... read more
Above avrage but not by much comes off as a bit cliche and campy as if they were trying to do a full distance from cold lake and yeah i guess some tracks are pretty good but for celtic frost's standards it is pretty meh
It was fine some good some bad but overall not a bad way to cap off celtic frost's first 3 album run it maintains that athmospheric yet pacey and experimental air so typical of them but comes of as a bit less imaginative as the previous 2 classical releases
personally didn't like this as much as morbid tales but its still packed full of emotion and strange experimental tracks while maintaining that classic celtic frost pace and lyricism that they never fail to deliver on. A 1st wave bm classic by all mean
In my opinion by far the best Celtic frost release, and probably one of if not the best 1st wave bm releases, its experimental yet so atmospheric while maintainng a frantic pace. The instrumentals to tracks like into the crypts of rays and procreation of the wicked are haunting and brutal but danse macabre is a bit more Avant Garde and strangely eerie and creepy, a no skip must listen to any metalhead.
A tiny bit repetitive but brutal asf absolutely crushing instrumentally and the vocals are exquisite
Undeniably a class its aged so well from the production itself to the themes
