Yeah, um, who told Ed Sheeran he should try to make a pop rap track with Eminem and 50 Cent or a hard rock track with Bruno Mars on it? This is basically Industry Plant: The Album.

RATING: 2.1/10
FAVORITE TRACKS: Feels (Thugger's in the ER with back pain from carrying this track), 1000 Nights (the beat fit Meek really well, ok?)
LEAST FAVORITE TRACKS: pretty much everything else, but "Remember The Name" and "BLOW" feel heinously terrible

YG's first verse on "Go Loko" is my favorite of his since "Still Brazy" like three years ago and he milked a good feature out of Tyga and Jon Z flows over Mustard's beat beautifully. While it's not up to the par that YG set with early projects like the aforementioned "Still Brazy" and "My Krazy Life," those are both top 10 rap projects of this decade and I don't think it's fair to keep him to that standard. I think this and "Stay Dangerous" are ... read more

One of the more underrated mixtapes of the decade, not to say that Nipsey's fanbase or the general hip hop community had a negative reception to it, but this is 51 minutes long and I have a hard time finding tracks that I simply don't like on here. All the features on here serve their purpose and some of my favorite Thugger verses, period, pop in on "I Do This" and "Thug Life." The production is tailored to Nipsey throughout the project, and nowhere is that better stated ... read more

Solid storytelling album, although I can't see myself coming back to some of the more conceptual tracks and while the first 5-7 tracks are all some of my favorites from this year, Blu & Oh No's collab stretches its subject matter a bit too thin at 48 minutes. That being said, Oh No's production is stellar and Blu's West Coast lyricism is my favorite I've heard from him in years.

RATING: 7.6/10

"All killer, no filler."
If you were a big fan of Pusha T's seven-track, 21-minute LP "Daytona" last year, keep the same energy for this similar 7-track, 24-minute EP from New York rapper Benny The Butcher. My favorite song of this year so far would be between two songs, and both feature Pusha, who has been on a tear as of late: "18 Wheeler", on this EP, or "Palmolive," off Freddie Gibbs & Madlib's collaborative record "Bandana." Benny spits ... read more
