Greatest Emcees List - In Progress

Eazy-E - Eazy-Duz-It
52.
Super iconic, maybe he was a little basic but when he rapped on the mic people listen. His voice is extremely engaging and his personality is through the roof.
Styles - A Gangster and a Gentleman
53.
Bit disorganised from here
DJ Drama & Young Jeezy - Trap or Die: Gangsta Grillz
60.
TI may have created the genre of trap, but Jeezy took the genre away from southern rap about the trap, and instead gave the genre a definitive sound.
Gravediggaz - 6 Feet Deep
64.
94
RZA (Frukwan is mad too tho)
Three-6 Mafia - Mystic Stylez
65.
93
Juicy j (not the best rapper but the most important from the group)
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - E. 1999 Eternal
66.
85
Bizzy Bone/Krayzie. Bizzy’s interweave of melody and flow is incredible abut K is more consistent.
Drake - Take Care
70.
Drake copies a lot of trends and makes comfortable pop music but when he hits his stride he is one of the best in the luxury rap scene, his charisma is through the roof.
Goodie Mob - Soul Food
73.
Cee-Lo. No solo hip hop efforts but he really is that good.
Joey Bada$$ - 1999
77.
80
Joey has a smooth flow, but his delivery can negate that and be a little over exaggerated. He has incredibly creative lyricism however, with many highlight verses. To be rated higher I would have liked him to prove he can maintain his heights across a project, or consistently against top tier emcees. He also has minimal influence, and an average discography that falls off after showing a lot of promise.
Ras Kass - Soul On Ice
79.
Probably going to get shut for putting RK low, but I think he lacks charisma. Yeah he has a nice flow but he’s overly angry and doesn’t come across as slick or engaging, but rather overly try hard.
Masta Ace - Disposable Arts
80.
I feel mixed on Masta Ace. On one hand he has a lot of great material which is both mature and reflective, however, there always seems to be blemishes which accompany his works. Cringe chorus’s, rushed flows, lack of charisma, I understand i can be very picky at times, but a lot of his songs don’t engage me outside of the albums. He has a great legacy, but he’s good rather than great.
Brand Nubian - One for All
91.
Sadat X/Grand Puba (relatively similar ranking)
Westside Gunn - FLYGOD
95.
I feel weird about WSG, on one hand I hate his guts because he can be overly obnoxious, however, he also has a great catalogue and a ton of personality. He reminds me of a warhead.
Big K.R.I.T. - 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time
96.
83
Can lack slickness, but is consistent and has great enunciation - excellent catalogue also.
Little Brother - The Minstrel Show
99.
Phonte. Seen a lot of people place him higher but he lacks charisma and personality imo.
Jedi Mind Tricks - The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological & Electro-Magnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness
100.
87
Vinnie Paz. A little abstract so I can understand people not fucking with this pick.

@Mfaergeman06 sweet, yeah honestly not the biggest Sean p fan, never got the hype unfortunately. He lacks charisma imo and his personality is boring. Buckshot was in contention but he doesn’t blow me away icl. I love that whole movement though, but I feel like the beats are the main attraction. Where would havoc place for you btw?

@B3O7 ehh idk about the exact placement, but I don't find him to be that impressive of a rapper, besides his energy. He works well on The Infamous and I personally love his contributions on tracks like Survival of the Fittest and Temperature's Rising, but it isn't really due to his lyricism or technical abilities. Him being a part of a duo as legendary as the mobb does bump him up a couple of places though. If we're just talking about Havoc and not letting the mobb deep aura infect his placement, I'd say he's prolly around the bottom of the list you've compiled until now. I would say he's better than Jeru and Conway, but definitely not above krit, who you've placed at 99 - I do hold krit at a pretty high standard though.

@Mfaergeman06 sorry bro didnt see this. I like that take though I think I feel pretty similar on his placement. Keith is definitely on a relisten list but my issue with him is he seems like a jack of all trades master of none. So he doesn’t stand out as great personally but I rate his discog.

@B3O7 you mean krit or is keith someone else? but I see your point if you mean krit, although his energy and mic presence in particular is among the better i've heard

@STLhiphop I hate his discog, but he has proven his dominance, and has made a big impact on the rap game. May drop him lower because of discog, but currently doing up scores for each artist so will be more clarity later.

I won’t lose sleep over Eminem being 38
