There are undoubtedly a collection of pretty sounds amongst the disfunction, but it doesn't amount to anything tangible
While this is still a very solid record, it fails to live up to the extreme hype I had built up for it. Scrapyard remains Ben's masterpiece, though I won't go so far as to call this a step back. It merely fails to reach that same feeling of transcendence that last year's mixtape achieved
I.. don't understand what's happening here. Sure the beats are solid, but the songwriting and vocal mix are very weak pretty much from start to finish. There's a vision here for sure but the execution is certainly not worthy of the glazing in these reviews..
So awful to listen to I couldn't finish it as short as it is, and that's a true rarity for me.
It's goofy as hell and that makes it hard to take seriously, but in truth it's a very listenable record
some high highs and some low lows, this is truly a mixed bag and leaves me wondering if Obongjayar will ever be able to put together a record worthy of his talent
The more upbeat tracks work really well but the quieter and dronier moments falter
There is a great album at the heart of this, but the production and weird washed out vocals let it down on several occasions
While I've always been a big fan of the Key Glock sound, his longer projects have thus far failed to dive in deeper than surface level beats and flows. There an undoubted talent here, he just needs to figure out how to take it to the next level.
Instrumentally very pretty but fairly benign and occasionally irksome song writing leave me underwhelmed
The sound is there but the vocals are so much weaker than the best of Foals stuff
Doesn't live up to the killer EP from last year, but there's still some bops to be found on here
A few tracks at the tail end don't quite live up to the quality of the rest of the record, but still a very strong offering
Very unique sound and I think I like it a lot. Definitely interested to see where they take this going forward.
