In his latest project, Kenny Mason boasts incredible rapping, smooth flows, and refreshing production over a 15 song tracklist. The beats are great and the rock influence on some songs is a really cool inclusion to the rap album. The record doesn't feel stale at any time and kept me interested from start to finish.
Some songs are fast paced, while others are slower and more introspective. The production on the intro is triumphant and gets you hyped for the rest of the album. Tracks like ... read more
He's still got it. At the wise old age of 83, Paul McCartney is making better music than many young artist in the industry right now. The Boys of Dungeon Lane - his 20th solo studio album - offers guitar driven pop rock songs as well as softer tunes.
As You Lie There is an electrifying opener, presenting great rock production and a powerful chorus that really impressed me - Paul's voice is incredible considering his age. I like the instrumentation on the album a lot, but the ... read more
Papercut is a pretty relaxing R&B debut album that has a good handful of takeaways. Some of the earlier tracks are a bit more forgettable, but songs like Slideee and Chasing have a super summery feel. The occasional song has rap influenced production which is a cool inclusion. Overall, quite a smooth record that isn't at all bad. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable. I'm interested in what else Imani Imani has to offer and will keep an eye out for any future releases.
At the start of his career, Elliott Smith was the frontman of alternative rock band Heatmiser, but he also released solo projects. Either / Or is his third studio album, and was released in the late '90s. It's a pretty tranquil pop/folk album with the occasional rock influenced song. It contains good writing and Smith's vocals are relaxing through and through.
Many of the songs don't have too much going on production wise, but this isn't really a bad thing. Not all ... read more
Big Fish Theory is Vince Staples' sophomore album, and it leans into a pretty experimental theme. I don't know Vince's catalogue very well, but from what I have heard, he's always doing something unique. Take his latest singles, for example - they incorperate aspects of indie rock, which is something different for a hiphop artist.
The production was super weird and kept me on my toes, offering a range of genres. A house inspired song kicks the album off, which took me by ... read more
