fur:trash - SCHOOLYARD UNDERDOG

This is such a different direction from Fur's last album, and I like it. I think the amazing album art does a good job of representing the more tender sound on show here; it's still hard dance music, of course, but you can tell this was a very personal project. I feel like the whole album builds up to NAIVE, which is a heartbreaking song I hadn't expected at all. The features here are all cool, and Fur's mostly monotone vocal style fits quite well into most of these tracks. ... read more

Peggy's recent output has kinda been snoozer after snoozer for me, but I think this one's pretty fun.

The production and drums aren't my style, but the song has something to it! I enjoyed it.

Im not much into plunderphonics, but I can appreciate this album. It's got quite a few interesting instrumental ideas, and it does a good job of establishing a dreamy mood. It's pretty good! My favorites were sky and freaky young gal

Vylet Pony - Gonarch's Lair

god please don't make this be my aoty 🙏
This is a shockingly good project from Vylet Pony, with an amount of effort I didn't expect. I think a a full mixtape of her making rap music would have been entertaining even if she put in like 50% of the care that she gave this. Can't wait for the Danny Brown collab

M.I.A. - M.I.7

As someone who enjoyed M.I.A.'s last album, I thought that there was a chance I'd enjoy this one too despite the dismal user score. And it's fine. You can tell she's barely even trying but what makes her past albums good still shines through on occasion. I wish she would spend less time being christian and eating sacrament or whatever and spend more time writing a decent verse.

Ruairidh Stewart - If I Had A Drumkit

I think one of the best things that can be said about a project like this is that it dearly leaves me wanting to hear more. The songwriting here is so intriguing, and just from these little songs I can tell that this dude has a lot of potential. The first and second songs especially are just great, I wish they were on streaming platforms. The whole EP is like ten minutes, so if you're reading this I'd implore you to listen to it. It had me hooked in the first few seconds.

Death Grips - No Love Deep Web

Something might be wired incorrectly in my brain but I like to listen to this album because it helps me sleep

My New Band Believe - My New Band Believe

I'm giving this band a higher rating than I realistically should... but I dunno man I just like, believe in them or something.
This has been my most anticipated release ever since it was announced, and I loved the singles (or I guess, single). This album has instrumental virtuousity front and center, and it's hugely ambitious. The timbres of the strings and the way they're played are enchanting. The compositions twist and turn in ways I don’t know if I like. The songs are ... read more

Big improvement from the last thing I heard from centerams. Biggest issue here is the mixing, there's a lot of high end that makes things like the vocals sound too loud and yet too thin. Solid digicore track outside of that.

I would also run away from B@BY that song was wack.

This album gave me production dysmorphia

My New Band Believe - Love Story

As soon as it was over I literally said to myself "It's over already?" and then went to go listen to it again. Such a winding down from the last single but so good in it's own way!

Dylan Brady - Dog Show

Just goes to show, dog.

Geese - Projector

I have a weird relationship with Geese, where I'm far from a hater, and I actually listen to their music a lot, but I wouldn't say I'm a fan. Or, maybe I am now, because this album changed how I think of them. While Getting Killed and 3D Country are hypnotic and I like to listen to them in the background, Projector is the only Geese project that fully demanded my attention throughout the runtime. It's so different from what I expected based on their contemporary output. ... read more

Patricia Taxxon - Bicycle

If there's an album that is genuinely perfectly produced, it's this. I think this would be one of her highest rated projects if it weren't for the fact that this one seriously blew up and got a lot of people unfamiliar to listen (which is in no way a bad thing!). The percussion, the repetition, the sounds: everything is just so warm and amazing here. Listening to this while watching the mountains pass by through car windows has been ingrained in my memory forever, I listen to ... read more

Patricia Taxxon - Schwarz

On the face of it, I would expect myself to not like this album at all: it's the most ambient and spacey of the Triadische Ballett series, with indulgent song lengths and minimalist compositions. But... it's extremely beautiful. "Something Pretty" is the song that gives me the most vivid mental images while listening, out of any song ever. That one is such and inspiration to me as a composer. Other songs like Escape and Fly feel so transcendent. This is a great album.

Patricia Taxxon - Rosa

This one is mixture of somber beauty and also brostep. You'd think it would be more akward than it is... though that isn't to say it's not awkward at all. Some of these tracks I genuinely don't like, particularly the cover song of the album. But songs like Spiral Staircase and Rosa make me able to forgive those moments. Courtship and Cambria are also stunning!

Patricia Taxxon - Gelb

My personal favorite of the Triadische Ballet albums, and I'm pretty firm on that. While I love Rosa and Schwarz deeply in their own ways, this album is just so fun and awesome the whole way through. I think this might have been the first Taxxon project I listened to in full, and what a start because I still think this is wonderful.
