I have taken up an interest in Nu Jazz again and decided to listen to this recent album on a whim. I think it does a lot of things that I seek in a good Nu Jazz release perfectly: beautiful chord progressions that sound dreamy and restless simultaneously, some really soft synth timbres that feel like they're about to take flight, and adventurous drumming (see: All My Friends Love Melodies and Hope Walk specifically).

Sombre and crushing, with occasional bursts of raging noise. Soulful guitar tones that go beyond shapes and timbres and possess their own emotion and personality. Once the first few tracks pass through, the intensity and emotion of God's Gonna Give You a Million Dollars only grows, with Ativan becoming this album's climax and cornerstone. A must-listen for any fan of Slowcore looking for a contemporary band that is pushing the genre forward.
