The end result ... is the Pumpkins' best offering since Siamese Dream. And while it lacks that album's perfect production, angstful rock moments, and sentimental value, Adore is full of its own glory.

Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins are operating on a level far above any of their alt-rock peers.

Even with its flaws, Adore is an admirable record that illustrates the depth of the Pumpkins' sound, even if it ultimately isn't a brave step forward.

Criminally underrated album from tsp, this deserves so much more recognition.

After their amazing and diverse double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, The Smashing Pumpkins undergo quite a sonic switchup on Adore. Instead of the grungey, shoegazey rock they had been known for in the past 3 albums, this record is much darker, slower, and moodier, with many ballads as well as electronic elements. More gothic than your average Pumpkins album, with unique results.

Project Review #120

Quick little update, turns out I have been way busier than I realized, so for now, I'll be posting one review per day, I promise when I have the chance I'll do multiple reviews.

Anway, Smashing Pumpkins I first heard of them, last year, and I heard really good things about them. So I felt like checking out, their 1998 album, and after listening to it. I really enjoyed this album, to me it's one of those slept on albums, cause no one really talks about, and ... read more

This album marks the departure from The Smashing Pumpkins grunge-like psychedelic heavy sound towards a synthpop and electronic one. I consider Adore to be their last great album. It's a bit bloated with some filler and a few generic-sounding tracks, but there are a few unique songs too. An overlooked gem.

Favorite songs: Tear, Appels + Oranjes, Shame, Annie-Dog, Perfect, Ava Adore, and Pug
