I feel a lot of Arthur Russell’s World of Echo in this album and i love it
Honestly not as big as a fan of this as i wanted to be. The only track i’ve ever heard off this album was Vicious Streak and so I was really excited. Everything from Turn My Way to Slow Jam was great and I really liked Someone Like You. But the other tracks just didn’t do anything for me. Still a fine album despite half the tracks, I do think my feelings will change over time as thats usually the case with albums I feel are sonically 50/50 on first listen
I honestly I didn’t expect to actually like the folk elements considering it’s an electronic album, but i think the production really might’ve been my favorite part of this album. At some points I feel like the lyrics get so confrontational that sonically, it becomes off-puting. Cried to Keen on Boys my first listen while walking home from school early sophomore year

She's acknowledging that she isn't bigger than her city, that she too is shaped by the shared desire to be desired. Miami being a very black and latino city, you can sort ... read more
Growing up in the late 2010s I think immediately makes this album special. Not because it's necessarily detailing experiences specific to that time, because it's not, but because there was nowhere you could go without hearing it or hearing about it. At least for me. The place I happened to hear it the most was in the room I shared with my older brother. He played it so much that at some point it really started to annoy me. Now that I finally have my own room, I thought maybe I should ... read more
