Pink Elephant’s ambient moments are some of my favorite on the record. This beautifully complements the heavy themes and wonderfully brash instrumentals of the main album.
This album is so so so good. It gets better with every listen and I am sure my score will continue to go up if I keep listening to it. The lyrics are focused and descriptive unlike some previous purity ring work, and the instrumentals are consistently creative and majestic.
Many bangers abound on this record. My biggest issue is that the style of writing on this project is not generally my favorite. The lyrics seem more focused on creating an atmosphere than saying anything coherent. Not by any means bad just not my cup of tea.
This is another very solid set of tracks, and I actually think that this EP benefits from being as short and precise as it is.
Super impressive collection of songs. The instrumentals are excellent and always engaging. Only notes are that the lyrics can come across as a little too simple and psuedo-poetic, though of course that is just a personal preference. Definitely hyped to check out more of drug bug!
I was not expecting Jack Harlow to release peak but here we are. This reminds me of many of the soft and sweet moments on Flower Boy.
So pleasant to listen to! genuinely an amazing direction to take his music as a switch up from his norm. Jack Johnson type shi
Literally sounds like Eminem in a straight jacket ramming his head against a wall while rhyming. I love it.
I don’t really have much to say other than this album is an absolute joy to listen to. Lyrics are thoughtful and the instrumentals are great!
LETS FUCKING GO.
Jon Bellion advocating for fatherhood is exactly what the fuck I needed right now. Hearing a musician explicitly state that being a father is so much more important than fame, money, and all of our broken fleshly desires.
Husbands have a God given role to love their wives perfectly, as Christ loves the church. Fathers also have a role to teach and grow an entire human being to be disciplined, moral, and strong. The weight of these commands is staggering, and of course no one ... read more
Very solid debut album with a lot of excellent musical talent. I like some of the lyrical moments a lot as well, especially on Sistas and Brothas and Black Crown.
Justice for this album!!!
I liked Scaled and Icy when it released, and it had just grown sweeter with time. Redecorate is for sure a top 10 TØP song if not top 5. Such an interesting time in the lore as well. I love the facade of the cheery instrumentals masking how dark the lyrics are.
Djo absolutely does it again and is now on a three album run of nothing but bangers. While I think DECIDE is his best up until this point, The Crux is still an incredible addition to Djo’s catalogue. Joe Keery’s lyrics never cease to amaze me because of how open and blunt they are.
(Also the irony of Basic Being Basic being one of the lower rated and less talked about songs on the album is hilarious to me. Of course people on this website would not love a satirical take on how ... read more
I like this album a lot. There are a few clear standout tracks, but even the ones that are not as memorable a never a pain to sit through on a full listen. You Are a Tourist and Stay Young, Go Dancing are classic instances of Death Cab songwriting at its best.
Wow. What an absolutely gorgeous retelling of the story of Adam and Eve. That final, bittersweet “I still look like you” being representative of the weight of our holding God’s image even through our sinfulness is such a piercing line.
