I can actually admire some creative decisions, I'm happy he tried new things, kept it interesting. What comes from poor experimentation is inconsistency, and this album has a whole lot of them. The writing on this really toes the line of corny a lot, some songs I can look past but others I can't ignore how painful the rapping is. This just clicks so much for me, every decision in the production and the structure feels so chaotically articulate. The songwriting is pure excellence, every line from In the Flesh really resonates with me.
There's not so much a reason as to why this 10 minute ep is perfection to me, it simply feels like one of those projects that make you think, "was this made for me?"

When the Pawn... is a fear of mine. Fiona Apple is so brutally honest with feelings I tend to keep under wraps or avoid completely that I can't help but fear the confrontation this album brings. I want a slayr character analysis. This is pretty consistently good, some songs definitely felt more creative and articulate than others. Can't really explain why I like this less than other rage/digicore projects, but something is missing.
