I can actually admire some creative decisions, I'm happy he tried new things, kept it interesting. What comes from poor experimentation is inconsistency, and this album has a whole lot of them. The writing on this really toes the line of corny a lot, some songs I can look past but others I can't ignore how painful the rapping is. I think the direction works a lot on something like AIR FORCE, killer first verse and cool switch up for the chorus. The features don't impress enough, ... read more
This just clicks so much for me, every decision in the production and the structure feels so chaotically articulate. The songwriting is pure excellence, every line from In the Flesh really resonates with me.
There's not so much a reason as to why this 10 minute ep is perfection to me, it simply feels like one of those projects that make you think, "was this made for me?"
Highlights - Every song.
When the Pawn... is a fear of mine. Fiona Apple is so brutally honest with feelings I tend to keep under wraps or avoid completely that I can't help but fear the confrontation this album brings. This is perfect songwriting in my opinion for that reason, the perfect use of vulnerability. Her vocals are gritty and powerful throughout, she means every word she's saying. As much as I fear some of the feelings expressed by Fiona, I relate to them as well. Carrying mental baggage that you ... read more
I want a slayr character analysis. This is pretty consistently good, some songs definitely felt more creative and articulate than others. Can't really explain why I like this less than other rage/digicore projects, but something is missing.
Highlights - Demigod, Death By MP3
This is incredible and I'm mad at myself for putting it off as long as I have been. This subverted my expectations greatly, this is everything music is going to be in the future. I adore the creative choices, the vocals tied with the production is unheard of and beautiful. I made a wonderful decision for my first listen of 2026, so many big things to come for zayok.

Packed deluxe so I can't complain, basically an album on its own. Although I don't think it's as good as REST IN BASS, it's still consistent enough for me to enjoy. Not many highs and only one big low that averages out to a pretty good album, loved UAV a lot wish the album did that sound more.
HIGHLIGHTS - UAV, CUTTHROAT
This is super impressive from bleood I can't lie. Although a short ep, this has so many great moments that i can see myself returning to it a lot. moral oral is incredibly creative in particular, and the evolution of rage in real time is so exciting to see.
Highlights - SANTA LEFT A BODY, moral oral
Swag got an underrated bag he's really versatile. Features weren't the best overall, only up from here!!
Highlights - Off My Chest, What U Gon Do
What a journey i was put through, this album takes you into its own world and doesn't let up for a second even with the long runtime. I love the rock elements so much during this album and I wish they were implemented a little more, the pure folk songs can be perfect when done right but some fall a little short for me. Through 20 tracks, only a few reach peak songwriting and instrumentation for me, but I appreciate the experimentation and unique feel this album brings.

Can't say I'm the biggest fan of the vocals but sonically it works, each song builds off of one another really well.

Everything eats and is eaten, time is fed.
Following abysskiss, Adrianne Lenker continues to write about the inevitable cycle of life and death with "songs". At the same time, she juggles her experience of heartbreak with very interpersonal and sentimental songs. This album displays some of the best songwriting I've ever heard, remaining intricate and concise throughout.
Songs like ingydar, forwards beckon rebound, come, and my angel all touch on the values of life and the ... read more
It feels raw, it feels authentic, and some songs are put together beautifully. There are some inconsistencies, the songwriting can be choppy and the instrumentals waver but I love Midwest emo and this is a great example of the genre.
Highlights - My Spirit Animal is..., I Used to Have Two Pen Pals
What is death but a beautiful tragedy, what is abysskiss by Adrianne Lenker but a beautiful tragedy? Everything on this album is completely perfect to me. It toes the line of hard to listen to with how gut-wrenching her songwriting is throughout, which is why I believe it is perfect. The album conveys 3 main topics, death, love, and birth. The symbolism and storytelling tied with the melancholic guitar is a perfect example on how to write about the intriguing mystery of all 3.

So inoffensive it becomes offensive, the production is incredibly boring throughout and his lyricism has only gotten worse with time. Young Nudy and Lil Baby do great with their features, but that's about the only compliment I can give this album. Eye roller for sure.
Highlights - STEPBROTHERS
This subverted my expectations greatly, the middle of this album is almost a perfect example of plugg/digicore. Kuru is incredible at making his music feel authentic, the lyrics are vulnerable and blunt throughout, and it made it so easy to like each song. The highs on this album are wayyyyyyyy up there. the 2Door to 4door sequence is amazing, If im being honesttt and my Baddd are perfect songs and depictions of Kuru's authenticity, I hate summer showcases his songwriting the best imo, and ... read more
HELLO!!!
Influential while somehow never being completely matched again, it's been almost a decade since release and no other artist can touch the feel Hi-C brings on this. He never slows down on this, consistently rapping on super heavy beats. His lyricism on this is so fun and the hooks are all catchy. Incredibly unique.
Highlights - Quan Chi, If U Must Know, Mantra Good I Casted Spells
Creative and so compelling, Alex G blows my mind in this album a couple times, and it only got better with another listen. This album takes a lot from many genres like folk, indie rock, and country. About halfway through the album, it takes a darker tone compared to the folk, which makes it understandable why some steer away from this album. For me, however, it keeps the music fresh and attention grabbing, while the contrast in sound helps Alex G's messaging throughout Rocket. Almost every ... read more
