holy fucking shit
how is this not the most streamed song of all time
This album keeps growing on me. I've been listening to it most days since it dropped 7 months ago, and I'm still finding new parts of I appreciate. It's a great feeling.
Songwriting is catchy, but not in a simplistic or boring way, and I'm a big fan of the production style, especially how it's mixed. It's also nice to see not every track in 4/4.
Basically, this album fucking rocks and is quickly becoming one of my most listened, ever.
This is literally the Platonic Ideal of a Pop album. Powerful vocal melodies, well structured, classy, well written, beautifully instrumented, dynamic. But, above all, it just slaps. Masterpiece.
Gorgeous voice, amazing production that flits from jerk to afrobeats to acoustic guitar. Album of the year. It's that simple. Shit is so majestic it ain't even Jerk anymore or it's Orgasm or something.
I don't even really listen to music anymore (migraines) but this album is so good its legitimately worth the pain. The production on this is so dynamic it's actually gorgeous. I never knew how much songage one could fit into a 4 minute song before I heard JRJRJR. Every track here has 30-60 second sections that feel like fully fleshed out songs and there are multiple per track. Vocal melodies are as catchy as I've come to expect from Jane. Rapping isn't great to be honest ... read more
This album is so close to perfect, but I just completely lose immersion at Frankie Sinatra and The Noisy Easter. Lots of really well put together samples, flows so well and captures the emotions of life amazingly. Genuinely just one of my favourite albums
(If I Was a Folkstar ❤️)
This isn't something I'm play every day but when I do it's lovely to get lost in. Title track makes me so very sleepy in the best way
This would be so much better if it was just the ten or so singles he released for it plus like Thorns and God's Favourite. The rest of these just sound bad sonically and have unnecessary feature bloat, not sure why this is the version that he decided on after 2/3 years of continuous roll-out :/
So much replay value. I could, and will, listen to the first disc forever. The singing isn't so great in some places, but I think this is better than We Don't Trust You if I'm being honest.
This is like half metal and half the gentlest acoustic guitar you've ever heard and I love it. SIN MEIDO is amazing, i recovered from this is the first peggy song to ever be about something meaningful, either on or off the drugs is being played at my wedding. Great production, rapping is an improvement, there's a couple of skips but it's not the end of the world. Such a good album.
this song feels it invented music. definitely needs to be the first human music aliens experience when they come to earth
It's not bad. Yes the trans bar is tasteless, yes calling TPAB sleepy was laughable, but it's a good mixtape. I feel like a lot of people are really overlooking the purpose of this. It's a mixtape of throwaways. It doesn't need to be a fully fledged concept album or consistently at a high level throughout. Each song should be taken at surface level, and a lot of them are pretty fire. Trae the Truth, Pi and Ready '24 are highlights for me. Really, this is sort of an Off-Season Pt.2. It's just J. ... read more
Yeah okay I see why this is considered Lupe Fiasco's worst album. It's just. so. god. damn. radio. friendly. All 12 of these songs could have been the lead single. It's like they're all competing to be the most watered down and pop-ified and it's just fucking exhausting. I mean, don't get me wrong Lupe's brisk pop rap flow and hook game is reasonably enjoyable but not for 47 straight fucking minutes. I just can't. Is he not known for his ability to spin concise yet powerful stories in a single ... read more
An absolute masterpiece featuring all kinds of weird and wacky production, namely the sampling, and combined with some outlandish rapping from the duo, which results in a incredible listening experience. Each sample feels so incredibly well chosen and implemented but yet, at the same time, completely random. On one track, God Loves You, an incredible gospel sample is layered underneath booming kicks and bass to create an instrumental, that quite frankly, would be brilliant as just a ... read more
