This album sneaks up on you. At first it’s mostly fine, but about halfway through, Underscores delivers some of the most energetic and addictive pop songs of the 2020s. Before you know it, the album is over, and you’re ready to hear it all over again.
Ari Lennox sounds like she’s going through a transitional period here with a mixed bag of some beautiful, soulful r&b and awkward viral hit attempts.
A$AP Rocky gives us the equivalent of a one man fashion show in musical form. Every song is a different outfit that he rocks with confidence. While he probably won’t ever come back to some of these aesthetics and styles ever again, it was rather impressive that he was able to pull it off in the first place.
This is the embodiment of those “You aight white boy” and “he’s welcome to the cookout” memes that have been plaguing any discussion about his career since he blew up.

Impressive at times, boring at others, Vanisher makes it clear that Quadeca is an incredibly talented producer. However, his desire to showcase this talent can sometimes get in the way of an enjoyable listening experience.
