ATLiens is great album of southern hip-hop, and even with some boring flows here and there, it's still a pretty amazing project. The highs are very strong on this record, with songs like "Two Dope Boyz" and "Jazzy Belle" making me come back to this record 24/7. It's interesting. Coming from a 21 year old Andre 3000 and Big Boi, their potential was fully demonstrated on this record, fully proving their potential. They're now producing their own stuff, and being given a larger budget from LaFace records, they certainly used it to their full extent. The catchy lyrics here also prove a lot about this record; it can be mainstream and a bit of an underground record either, at least in it's style. Big Boi is def the better rapper here, with him having the more catchy and good lyrics and flows of the records, with most the lows being passed onto 3K. And the verses on "Babylon" were somewhat awkward and didn't fit in the rest of the record. It might be a bit unremarkable in content, this is, without a doubt, the AOTY of 1996. Overall, great record. Easily one of the best hip-hop records of the 90's
