Everything about this album is beautiful, in meaning and musical quality. Kendrick Lamar is the epitome of subverting what most people think when they think of hip-hop, and while his endeavors past this haven’t been as successful, he’ll always have TPAB as his magnum opus.
An overall great time for the brain and the ears, even with the slower second half.
Definitely in the minority for this one, but I prefer the more soulful songs on Thriller and Off the Wall than those on Bad, which feel a lot more like pop to me. Good album, just not fully my speed.
Donna Summer’s most popular album is also misunderstood, I feel. The concept of nightlife and the internal struggle that comes with it is something that artists never explore, especially in today’s world. A lot of people have issues with the fact that this is a double album, and there are quite a lot of ballads in the second half—but that’s kind of the point of the album.
