A widely requested (two people) LP recently has been Mac DeMarco’s ‘Salad Days’ (2014). Considering this, after my first listen I decided to spin it again because I didn’t understand the hype. What a difference actually paying attention makes huh? This indie/slacker/surf/psychedelic rock record is fantastic.
At first glance, it appears packed with dense psychedelic tones, and it is, but it’s really not that complicated. It’s ... read more

This is Car Seat Headrest’s 2013 LP ‘Nervous Young Man’, and boy oh boy, I love this album, and there’s a lot I could write down about it. My buddy and I share a bootleg CD (we had no choice!) of this album, plus some covers we did. And when it’s gone from my hands I sure do remember having it fondly.

Here is Animal Collective’s 2001 LP ‘Danse Manatee’. My buddy @daniel.jay.music1 and I listened to this record TWICE a couple nights ago.

For someone who doesn’t listen to this band it feels like a flashbang. As fun as the music is I just find myself thinking: “wow, there’s a lot of new things coming and it’s not stopping”. The album only starts to ... read more

Here’s ‘Faith’ (1981) by The Cure. I’m writing about it with a cat on top of me. A black one, not a grey one.
Lord, this album is an atmosphere.
Much like their last LP, they love to lay out the picnic blanket and ease the audience in. And that first track? Robert Smith sounds AMAZING. But then the second track: ‘Primary’ hits us and reminds us that this band is R.E.M.’s cooler older cousin.
They have such a unique sound that ... read more
