All you need is a choir, garageband, and like 3 hours of free time and you can literally recreate this whole album

Blinding Lights > In Your Eyes > Save Your Tears is one of the most incredible 3 song runs on an album in pop history

I think this album would be looked back upon a bit more fondly if it existed separately from the context of the rest of the Flaming Lips' discography. Compared to the other noisy psych rock albums of the time a-la Spacemen 3, Loop, and the Jesus and Mary Chain, it's pretty solid, but I'd only really put this on when I've finished listening to Psychocandy and still want more of that sound.

I have no idea why this album resonates with me so much. The lyrics are great but overall it's not a terribly emotionally engaging listen for me. It just achieves what it sets out to achieve so well. Perfect fall soundtrack.

This album is like the spaghetti with all the candy and pop tarts on it that Will Ferrell eats in Elf. Just an absolute fucking colorful disgusting mess but like also kind of delicious too

Alright I have a bone to pick with whatever algorithm provides the search results on AOTY. I typed "808s &" into the search bar and this album was not even in the TOP 5 results. I'm aware there are other projects with that series of characters in the title but come the fuck on I'm obviously searching for this album

Kate McKinnon of SNL fame just walked by me on the street and I bet if I asked her what she thinks of Parachutes by Coldplay she would say it's a beautiful and haunting collection of gorgeous ballads, and a spectacular debut from a wonderful and oft misunderstood band, because Kate McKinnon is a very smart and talented human
