its so wacky in the most interesting way possible. the starting track really makes that known, being very overly-dramatic and almost stressful, but an absolute banger nonetheless. throughout the rest of the tracklist, there is not a dull moment on this record (except i finally understand, which can be minutely boring at times.) many of the best songs released this decade are on this album, like forever and party 4 u.

black girl memoir too, everything really. but maybe not the spoken word stuff like god (felt a bit random). so many fun melodic tracks on this like whats your name and the earlier-mentioned yucky blucky fruitcake, as well as some pop-rap bangers like drop out and something real.

cool atmosphere built in this album, whenever someone has a party storyline within their album they always eat.
the first three tracks weren't really it for me sonically, even though i enjoyed the moody production and how it introduces the nightlife notion (also the smooth transition between the halves on the third track). it definitely picks up for me once it reaches the morning, transitioning well from the darkened mood of the first tracks into the daylight. the following tracks are ... read more

dua really stuck well with the 'future nostalgia' concept. much of the tracklist leans very strongly into a disco and dance-pop vibe, that feels reminiscent of old, as well as very welcoming of the new. for example, some of the robotic ad-libs on the title track and levitating are very daft punk, and the beautiful orchestrated strings on love again really remind of gloria gaynor's 'i ... read more
