Slightly better than Earth by Lil Dicky.

God listening to this after the new Eminem album is such a palate cleanser. Going into this I had no idea what to expect of a Kamasi Washington album but this man is the goat. Not a moment wasted and sonically each track builds and releases tension in such a satifying way. THE SOLOS FROM EVERY INSTRUMENT ON THIS SLAP SO HARD. So glad I took a chance on this, now to listen to his whole discography!

This album is just if Tom MacDonald had a ton of rap skill. First of all, having rap skill and being a good rapper are not the same thing. The content of this album is HORRIBLE. Believe me if I could tune out the lyrics and just listen to it in the background I would but the bars are TRASH. The whole concept of this album is corny af and it's just trash. The "GEN Z IS EVIL CAUSE THEY WANNA CANCEL ME" narrative is so tired and frankly immature. No more albums please.

Honestly surprised with my reaction to this. It’s just not as good as I remember. Redbone is definitely the peak of this album but it doesn’t hit the same creative high throughout the rest of the album.

Edit: Wow, I was smoking crack rating this so low. Wtf was I thinking? This is an amazing funk/soul album with some of the most interesting and dense songs ever—truly a modern classic.

Has a vibe for sure, but it can't keep up with the infectious groove of MILLION DOLLAR BABY.

Another amazing album from James and the inclusion of Lil Yachty seems too good to be true. This genuinely feels so fresh and interesting. I was fully invested in the journey each track took me on and it delivered almost every time. The only low point for me was the beginning of Run Away From The Rabbit but even that felt like it had artistic intent. This is what the new Taylor album should've been. I love the sound of this album, but the lyrics dont always compliment it well. An enjoyable listen nonetheless.

Edit: I feel like a 69 is a more sensible score for this album.
