A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb

Don’t Be Dumb is a very solid return for Rocky, seeing him expand his sound and overall making a fun vibe

Highlights include the single HELICOPTER, which is by far my most played song of the year so far, STAY HERE 4 LIFE which has an angelic feature from Brent Faiyaz, the one of a kind produced NO TRESPASSING, the vibrant romantic collab between Rocky and Doechii on ROBBERY, and the addicting vibe of WHISKEY(RELEASE ME), which despite Westside Gunn pump faking us all, Iz a fire track. ... read more

This album is super fun, full of bangers, soft songs, reflective moments, and feels like the perfect culmination of what makes Kendrick so great, and is his peak of versatility.

Highlights include the mega slapper tv off, which has 2 animated verses, tons of quotables, and of course MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRD!. reincarnated is also a massive highlight, boasting a lot of perspective switching, a Kendrick specialty. Luther is addictingly catchy, him and SZA have top notch chemistry on the mic. ... read more

This project has some of the most Vulnerable lyrics in any HipHop album ever, but it suffers musically in the process

Highlights include the hype N95, having colorful flows and cadences all through out,
the vibey and sad Die Hard, the revealing Father Time, which has an excellent hook provided by Sampha, and the high impact disk 2 opener Count Me Out, which has so much variety in the production, it never gets stale.

Ironically, this album’s weakest moments for me end up being the most ... read more

Kendrick’s attempt at poking into the mainstream, while also keeping what makes him special, incorporating an impressive internal story you can flip in reverse. It’s amazing in concept, but a few songs fall a bit flat.

Highlights include the Alchemist produced FEAR, taking you through 3 different stages of life all in one song. It’s super well written, and the beat for Uncle Al sets up the atmosphere perfectly. Easily one of his best. I’m also a huge fan of the mega ... read more

It’s a fine detour between albums, but it obvious why these are leftovers

The best song here is definitely untitled 8. Has a groovy beat and catchy refrains all through our.

I also like the first 2 songs a lot. Untitled 1 has some vicious rapping from K Dot, and untitled 2 has some wacky but catchy vocals that define how unpredictable Kendrick can be.

Songs like untitled 5 or untitled 6 have lackluster production, the beats feel like unfinished stock loops.

It’s fine, but I ... read more
