I love this new 70's funk-influenced project. It can feel a bit empty at times, but it never feels boring. Although I don't think this record outshines their previous work, Balming Tiger never disappoints.
This album was a pleasant surprise. I'm not very familiar with Fakemink's sound at all, so I did not know what to expect. I only watched this interview where he said the album was based on horror/exploitation movies, and I was happy to hear that influence in the sounds used in the project. That being said, it is also not as envelope-pushing as he was making it out to be, the influences are pretty clear and it does a good job of mixing certain genres. It almost reminds me of ... read more
Wow, I was really not expecting this sound. I love it. Very poetic, amazing instrumentals.
It's clear that DJ HARRISON has really found his sound and place in the music world. I love the depth in these instrumentals.
I really do not mind this new sound the underground is bringing. It sounds like a teenager made this, and I love it. I don't think I'll be relistening a lot, but this was a very enjoyable listen.
How do they keep hitting us with these amazing albums... Favorite track: Dogeared. Amazing storytelling as always.
This has been the soundtrack to my mornings. I love these pieces to death, and I feel like the sound quality of the tracks, which isn't the best of course, adds to the experience in a way you can only understand by listening to the album.
This album felt like a step back onto earth after 'All My Heroes Are Cornballs'. These instrumentals manage to feel grounded and based in reality while sounding extremely experimental and spacey at the same time. I love the singing he does on this project and the rapping is amazing as always. My favorite track is 'WHAT KINDA RAPPIN' IS THIS?'.
I want to get dinner with Mike and Tony Seltzer, pick up the check, and give a 30% tip to the waiter.
This will always be my favorite album of all time. Mostly because of the time I discovered this album, which was a very transformative period in my life. It is such a hopeful, fun, and humourful project while being able to be extremely funky. Amazing. MUST LISTEN!!!
Wow, the production on this album sounds amazing. The quality of the instrumentation sounds much better than his other projects, and this album really puts you in a certain atmosphere, something that I hadn't felt from his other projects. With this new sound, he did not fail to keep the quality of music at the same level as albums such as 'Suzie Super Groupie' or 'Bread Alone'. Such a creative and forward pushing artist. My favorite track of the album is 'I Love ... read more
On first listen, I was quite disappointed, and not in an 'AMHAC' way. Every single album Peggy dropped was extremely influential and transformative for me personally, and I did not get that from this project. But also, just like every album he's dropped before, it always starts out as a head scratcher. There's a certain effect that his music has where every time you listen to it, the music sounds more normal in a way. I've listened to this album three times right now, ... read more
