Never heard of these guys before, but the front man is a talented vocalist and the band put in good performances across the board. The album is an extremely polished and clean-sounding production, which may not appeal so much to folks who like their rock / metal edgier, noisier and grittier. Since I like it both ways, it was a pretty easy and enjoyable listen while it was playing, though I'm not sure I'll ever return to it.
Very good EP. No bad songs, with "This Is Our Life" being the standout.
POS - 9
This is Our Life - 10
Nothing Personal - 8
Pieces - 7
Suicide Romantics - 8
This had a lot of promise but it was destroyed by the artist's Kardashian-level narcissism and irritating holy rolling. For instance, the song "Baby Blue" has pleasant vocals and some really cool sonic ideas, but it's WAY TOO LONG and did not need to break into gospel manure in the second half, esp. considering the very first (boring ass) song was already gospel choir-y. I had it 100 rated and saved on my playlist after three minutes but then deleted it because dude does not ... read more
Pure rubbish! I went in telling myself to just stick it out and I'm proud that I lasted as long as I did. How long was that, you ask? Hmm, approximately LONG E-F*CKIN-NOUGH. Then again, two minutes spent on this is two too many. You know how recovering addicts are supposed to go around making amends to everyone they've harmed / ripped off? Well whoever made this need to do the same to anyone who had the misfortune of wasting their time with this beyond annoying nonsense! I demand my ... read more
One potentially good thing about Tame Impala faceplanting with his boring new album is that perhaps some dissatisfied folks will move on to this band instead to get their fix of Aussie psychedelia.
While I always respected Carlile's vocal talents, for some reason most of her music just hasn't appealed to me. This however is an exception. Great bassline. Great vocals. Very timely lyrics. Just a solid, well performed old school rock protest song. I've listened to a couple of other recent political songs and found them pretty corny. Both tried to do some Woody Guthrie / Bob Dylan type folksy gimmicky throwback thing right down to including a harmonica solo. This is a much more ... read more
At first I was confused why this was rated so high. After all it's very much in tune with Grimes' other post-Miss Anthropocene singles everyone here has been hating on for years now. Now all of a sudden THIS song, which is very similar to all her other recent songs, is supposedly great?! Huh? Why exactly? Well, it didn't take long to solve the mystery as I soon stumbled upon a comment that this was recommended by Anthony Fantano, which caused me to burst out laughing. Out of ... read more
Are y'all on CRACK with that green rating?
Wallen's monotone, heavily pitchy-corrected twang-talk mixed with a few poorly-executed falsetto attempts and generic country "flourishes" are applied to an otherwise completely unimaginative cover of a decade-old Nothing but Thieves song.
Is this somewhat better than Morgan's usual trash? Sure, because it has a solid template to work off of, similarly to how Luke Combs' "Fast Car" is good by his standards ... read more
I know some people hate Sia now because of her autism movie but I have zero interest in watching it and it has nothing to do with her music anyway so it's basically a complete non-issue for me.
Despite her previous album containing two of her most famous songs (including her breakthrough hit "Chandelier"), I actually thought this follow-up was much better in nearly every way. The songwriting is sharper, Sia brings her vocal acrobatics down a notch to non-showy (i.e. irritating) ... read more
Another of those cases where this is far from being a masterpiece yet not nearly as bad as some people here would want you to believe.
One of the best Nicki Minaj songs and one of the best Sia songs are tucked away on this album, so that helps matters. Other songs range from pretty good to awful ("I Just Wanna F", anyone?). That Snoop track is covertly kind of wonderful. Great beat and it's hilarious hearing his voice electro-fit to a EDM track. USHER and Jennifer Hudson provide ... read more
Funny that three of the most hated artists on this website can get together and make a song that's better than most 2025 songs currently user rated in the 80s and 90s. While this really isn't all that impressive in the grand scheme of things, it's still a lot better than most of the absolute crap that get pimped here. There's (eek!) actual singing, competent production, non-embarrassing lyrics and a reasonable chorus at least.
They're seemingly becoming more and more generic and predictable with each new song. These aren't necessarily terrible to listen to b/c they're so soft and slow with underpitched vocals and dreamy textures but still come off way too sterile, flat, safe and vacuous to make a lasting impression.
It's mildly pleasant yet extremely forgettable background noise made by people who aren't the least bit interested in painting outside the lines or trying to differentiate ... read more
Parasocial weirdos can pretend this is good until they're blue in the face, but the rest of the world knows better. There's nothing special or original about anything going on here. It's extremely generic, the lyrics are moronic and annoyingly repetitive and, let's be real, not even those who claim it's great (prolly mostly 12 year olds) will give two f's about it here in a week when a new shiny object is waved in front of their face. 😉
I listened to a string of this guy's songs on the way home from work tonight and they varied wildly in quality. Some I didn't care for (mainly due to the writing). Some were decent. And some (including this one) I loved. Through it all, one thing remained constant: Kashus' vocal abilities blow about every popular country music performer working today right out of the water.
Since the raw talent is clearly there, he really could have a breakthrough moment in the next few years. ... read more
People saying it's not the worst cover ever made are correct. However I'm still gonna give it a big fat zero. At the bare minimum, a cover needs to do SOMETHING to justify its existence. There are two ways this could have done that and thus served an actual purpose: 1. Improving upon aspects of the original version, or 2. Adding a unique spin to the original version. This does neither. And giving racists permission to finally enjoy an exceptionally well-written classic they otherwise ... read more
92? LMAO!
Let's start out by deducting 90 points from that score just for the cringey glaze routine. This currently has the same rating as "Bohemian Rhapsody" on this God forsaken site, which is kind of sad yet also kind of hilarious. Seeing how one of these songs has endured for five decades and the other will be completely forgotten here in five days, let's try to keep things in perspective, shall we?
As for the song, it's typical AOTY ADD-core featuring a no talent ... read more
This album consists of three main components...
1. Some dude talking in a whiny monotone into a mic and then using cheap software to distort it so he sounds like a malfunctioning robot.
2. Lyrics that are neither interesting nor intelligent. Well, when you're actually able to actually understand them.
3. Near constant bass thuds + a bunch of loud, obnoxious blips, bleeps, bangs, skips, drags, booms and various other irritating noises that appear randomly thrown together as they never ... read more
