in contrast to smithereens being horribly short, this album almost felt bloated. i enjoyed the whole thing, but there were so many short songs to the point where it doesn't leave you much time to connect with any specific one. but like i'll eat up joji's sound any day, so whatever i like it!!!

folky trans guy with a beautiful voice, I AM IMMEDIATELY SOLD! had me wanting to tear up at several moments and i honestly can't pinpoint why. just kinda music that i Felt. and awesome album cover too

DIDN'T THINK I WOULD BE CRYING TO AN ELECTRONIC DANNY BROWN ALBUM BUT DAMN!
he tells his story super beautifully here, and it really hits me when layered with all of this flashy production that i would argue (totally definitely unbiased) is the best he's ever rapped on. amazing curation of artists and producers that bring in a wide variety of voices to go alongside his.
surprisingly, i think my favorite part of this whole thing is angel emoji's narration. it's what ties this ... read more
sometimes you hit an awful low and everything feels like you're 14 again and you gotta revisit this album. i haven't listened to this in many years, but it was my favorite for a while.
on a relisten, it's not perfect, but i think its rawness and perhaps overly cheesy/motivational writing provides a source of comfort that i needed both then and now.
it's almost hard to listen to because it so vividly reminds me of my younger self experiencing all of these emotions for the ... read more
i loved this album when it came out, and i actually still really do. i think it's the perfect iteration of hippo campus' unique indie-electronic sound, even better than bambi. so many great moments, pretty perfect pacing-- i'm probably a bit biased from all the memories i have with this album, but it still feels the same as it did four (HELLO????) years ago.

as a fellow 20-year-old from north carolina, i've really connected with this glaive project ever since asheville came out. "y'all" encapsulates that feeling of coming back to your home state, partially embracing it, partially remembering all the reasons you left as well as all the things that tie you back. it's a weird one, and maybe i'm projecting a bit, but in my mind glaive gets it!! i love this sound that he's settled into, and there's really no ... read more
it's been so long since the first single that i almost forgot this album was happening. i love each song individually; eden is absolutely doing his thing, but dark doesn't feel like it has much identity as an album. maybe that's due to me losing interest as more and more singles dropped over the past year, and maybe this is too high of a rating if i have this issue. not that it's necessarily an "issue," especially since i'll develop my own interpretation of ... read more
the cover art was all i needed to know i was gonna love this-- sounds exactly like how it looks. been reconnecting with my edm childhood recently and yup, this is an amazing take on it. god i love the internet!!!
favorite track: ipod touch
i feel a little bit underwhelmed; i LOVED the singles and the rest of the album just didn't stand out as much. preacher's daughter was so compelling because of its storytelling-- so while i can still appreciate the shift towards ambient tracks, this album obviously doesn't come close to pd in that regard. feels like it'll take a few listens for me to process this story further and truly appreciate it.
favorite track: nettles
ok i get it now, this album is so cute. within the time it's been out, i've been with at least 3 different people who insist that i need to listen, then that situation goes to shit, and i decide that i'm never listening. finally got around to it, and i guess i'm glad that i did. some great lucy dacus writing as usual, nothing too crazy, but i felt like i was in love a little bit!

wow wowie. an album that deserves all the hype it gets and more. like what do you mean this is former youtube rapper quadeca?? absolutely stunned by these instrumentals, all tied together so wonderfully with the theming, and I haven't even seen the film yet. some huge moments, some serenity, some twists, turns, and storms-- an absolute sea monster of an album.
favorite track: dancing without moving? maybe? tbd, all super awesome.
our lorde and savior is back. i can kind of see why it took four years-- interesting production, arrangements, cohesive theming, etc. but also, it's way too short!! love the ideas here, but they're nowhere close to fully fleshed out! and also I liked it and selfishly want hours of this!!!
favorite track: clearblue
JUNE 2025 FINALLY. big fan of a mega collaboration like this; so many perspectives and unique voices. love the quadeca production & songs obviously but also woah, love spells i was not familiar with your game. kinda blushing out here idk

trench was foundational to my journey of becoming a music lover. it was the first album I stayed up to listen to on release, and the tour was my first (and second) concert. I've grown out of twenty one pilots recently, but decided to start revisiting their music to see how it holds up. can confirm, trench has aged excellently.
the twenty one pilots lore and worldbuilding were at an all-time high, which shows in the songwriting-- though it can also be easily enjoyed with zero knowledge of ... read more
kmoe on deadair is one of the best things to happen to me. i feel like the fact that this is an album still does not feel real? it's stylistically cohesive in this blend of genres that kmoe produces so well!! i feel like i didn't pick up on much thematic concept (also due to the name lmfao), but idc i enjoyed regardless!

jane remover does it again by blowing everyone's minds in another genre! she's so good at the sort of maximalism that shines throughout this album. i loved connecting all the little ghostholding and flash in the pan era sounds. and of course i am so glad to hear the danny brown feature, been waiting for this one for a while now. this is not much of a review, i'm just excited and cannot wait to hear this live in asheville.
