My god we are so back. Three amazing singles in a row, and we finally have a Chris W Bass song, the first in so long, and it's way better of a song than I expected. It's also just so fun and Sim Theory-coded.
Biased towards both bands, so that works. Definitely not their best song but I really appreciate the collab. The same formula seems to work in most electric callboy song.
I think that this is less of what the general public wants (compared to getting new SOAD) but more so what we need (protest music that isn't held back by having a trump supporter and a really really dodgy centrist holding it back.) the instrumental is very car-commercial esque, a quality I do dislike, and Serj, in getting older with a very unique voice to begin with, has aged in a very unflattering way. The lyricism is great and very important but the rest is just kind of bland in my ... read more
Sublime is absolutely 4/4 on these singles! I love how this is just good old double time ska, which is what I wanted to hear. This is still my least favorite of the 4 but does that really mean anything when it's so consistent between the 4?
Pure fun Indie Rock record that has 4 simple, short but also really well executed songs.
The biggest tragedy is that the rest of the album doesn’t sound like this
We are living in a time that despite dividing people through the fear of another lockdown, and the obligatory political stuff that I feel is necessary to mention yet not linger on, it should be drowned out by the huge resurgence in the 2000's Alt revival taking place now more than ever. People on the internet are still encouraging whiteboys to remember their roots (which I took to heart), and genres like Nu-metal, Indie and Screamo are about as popular as they were in their heyday, music ... read more
Hope we're getting a bigger release soon! Weirdly enough I don't really like this as much as downpour or checking out, but I tolerate it, just not my favorite release, it feels a bit blander than their recent releases and I don't want them to go down that path when they've been so innovative with indie.
I was told by a friend that At The Drive-In were the most "true" Post-Hardcore band, and that makes sense. Everything I've been led to believe fits under the umbrella of that genre, rhythmic but short guitar strums with really melodic chords, but also heaviness and aggressive vocals, along with room for experimentation. While my main Post-Hardcore fixes thus far have been Title Fight, Billy Talent and Refused, even, this band does do all of what I've believed post hardcore ... read more
Doo do doo doot??
Preparing myself to see these guys two days in a row, closing hillside and opening for Billy Talent!
I can definitely see comparisons in Old PUP and Rozwell Kid in Hollerado's debut, which I feel bad saying since these guys predate both.
Anyways yeah, I do like these guys, they have a simple indie sound that I've definitely heard before, but it's fun and will definitely make for a great show once I see them. My personal favorite track is Americanarama, but I ... read more
Hummusvaccum did it. I've been waiting for an album since I first got into them, which was the G-U-I-L-L-O-T-I-N-E era, which I loved Hummusvaccum for in the political anger and fast tempo, and with each single they released, I just got more and more excited for the idea of an album (which Kevin Cappy teased on the account every now and then), but it only really got its release date when Tattletale (one of the best on the album) got released. The Art of a Fake Laugh is currently my album ... read more
Muse is now at a point where they cannot mess this up. I'm saying that in two ways. They can't mess it up because the singles are already so amazing that there is no way the album can be bad, and they can't mess it up because that will ruin my summer. Cryogen is definitely my favorite from this album so far, but hell, this is not far off. It has some simulation theory elements, but Matt's vocal style is so reminiscent of Showbiz, and it's just a good damn song. And the ... read more
First off, The Saddest Day is my new favorite Converge song.
Petitioning The Empty Sky is the rawest Converge album I’ve listened to now, which makes sense because of it being a lot older, as their sophomore release.
I will say, The Saddest Day definitely beats every other song from this album by at least 2 laps (if they were all in a marathon), but I don’t think that means that the other songs on this album are nothing special, as I really enjoyed Farewell Note To This City A ... read more
This will be an amazing Part 7 adaptation. This song alone encapsulates the quality I'm anticipating. The progressive attitude of this song and the Sax mixing with strings and keys just goes so hard!
The original is diabolical and I'm only now realising there's a sequel? Hell yes
I thought that it was gonna stay how it did until Yuno Miles came in, chill beat but Yuno always carries
Converge's Jane Doe is the closest to a perfect metalcore album that I've ever listened to, but I'll only give it an 100 on a good relisten.
Concubine is such an amazing album introduction. It's raw and unhinged, which I didn't hear enough of in Love Is Not Enough, despite being an amazing 2026 Release.
I think that this album really does well in the Hardcore Punk side of it, Distance and Meaning having a different side to it than what I've heard from the band, ... read more
