This is one of those albums I have no nesitation in calling transcendent- it changed everything for me. There is so much to unpack on such a diverse record- "North American Scum" and "Someone Great" are so different from one another, but they work as a part of a cohesive album. "All My Friends" I think is the defining song of the millenium thus far- it is beautiful, haunting, and has become the anthem for lonely 1am walks home.

A breathless album- I felt exhausted after the first listen and not in the emotionally drained sense (a la Carrie & Lowell), but because this is packed with bangers and big sound from start to finish. The songwriting is what drew me in on this record, which is a rarity for me. "Deep Love" has a beautiful chorus that feels like you would want to belt it from the rooftops in anger. There is even some risk taking with the synth-based intro on "Even in the Tremor"- not my favorite track, but I still enjoyed it! "Young Disciple" is a haunting, vivid story about death and it stuck with me after the first listen. One of my favorites thus far this year.

Haunting and beautiful is how I define this. The kind of record that you put on as the night falls and you begin to question it all.

This whole album varies for me with each listen. There are times I listen through and am blown away by track after track, and then a few days later I am less impressed. Overall, I have a lot more positive feelings toward this record and look forward to what Yanya puts out next.
