I hate to sound pretentious, but this cypher feels like the most half-assed, disrespectful to art thing I've seen in quite some time. Another great group of songs from IDK, but I'm honestly just more confused why this one was the one that moved people's general apathy or even hate for the dude's work when it feels like more of what makes him great. He's been putting out great stuff for years, but I'm glad he's finally getting more of the love he deserves now, especially when he's independent now.
Love that the guitars are more heavy in this album than their other works, but Nate Ruess's voice really brings this all together into being amazing. Really great return from the band and I hope we don't have wait as long to get more great stuff from them.
While it isn't his best off of first listen, a majority of this is some of his best work lyrically and conceptually. Some really great production work here too. The only weak parts for me are some of the more melodic parts, but those were more on the first disk and were still good to great songs. This album is not something that's going to change J.
