What makes Purple Haze stand out after 20 years is the production. Yeah, it’s a 2000s rap album, so some of the beats haven’t aged the best; but when it hits, it shines. His arrogant flow works surprisingly well on joyful soul beats. Although there is some bloat toward the end, none of the lows are all that obnoxious or annoying. Pretty great album.
I wish the mix was better, but all the instrumental parts are peak
If Jid or McKinley Dixon released literally the same thing, yall would rate it 90+ at least
