I physically cannot give this a higher rating. This is just a worse rerecording (reimagining, allegedly) of a much better album. I can't imagine anyone choosing this over the original. Who is this for?

Sling sees Clairo's matured lyrical ability shine, with stripped back, floaty production. I really admire her for taking her sound in a completely different direction, rather than conforming to what most expected. This album took a few years to grow on me but I really appreciate it now!

Immunity feels dedicated to all the lonely sapphics of America. It's packed full of wistful, longing lyrics; they're melancholic, but more so nostalgic, reflective. It's structured like collected thoughts right before falling asleep. This is furthered by the mixing in of child choir vocals.

diary 001 is primarily a collection of singles. Most of its heavy hitters had been around for a while and achieved viral success before its compilation. The additional tracks feel more like concepts rather than fully developed songs. However, there's something about this EP that keeps us coming back.
Despite making up a relatively small part of her discography, the phantom of this era continued to haunt Clairo. It makes of many of her most listened to songs, a whole 7-8 years later. ... read more
