Whenyoung - Reasons to Dream
88

I love love love whenyoung, only downer for me was not putting Heaven on Earth or Given Up on the debut album but the already released singles are excellent and of the unreleased ones, A Labour Of Love, You're Grand and Heartbroken are really good.

The Amazons - Future Dust
78

A very solid Sophomore album, a few filler tracks but the singles are excellent. Favs : Fuzzy Tree, Doubt It, Dark Visions

Amyl and the Sniffers - Amyl and the Sniffers
80

Raw, powerful and full of life, only discovered them a couple of months ago, love the energy.

Morrissey - California Son
20

Even shiter than i expected it to be.

The Struts - YOUNG&DANGEROUS
90

This is awesome, proper glam rock, one of my favourite records of the year after a couple of listens

Greta Van Fleet - Anthem of the Peaceful Army
55

My favourite thing about Greta Van Fleet is how universally popular they are and how widely loved and appreciated their music is. ;)

The Beths - Future Me Hates Me
90

Sensational album, struggling to find even one weak song on here, has to be up there with my favourite albums of the year even after a couple of listens, punk heaven.

Jack White - Boarding House Reach
20

This feels like a record you'll either love the weirdness, experimentation and new sounds on or you will absolutely hate it. I love The White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather and 'Lazaretto' but i truly despise everything about this record, i can't rememeber the last time i disliked something this strongly, i am going to wipe it from memory and go back and listen to 'Horehound' or 'Elephant. I can see why some people will find this record intruiging, interesting and expansive but honestly ... read more

Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
95

I am kinda new to Will Toledo and Car Seat Headrest since Teens of Denial was released so without commenting on the original album i will just say that this Twin Fantasy is fucking incredible, this is the work of a gifted genius. Beautifully between happiness and sadness, it feels like a record that merges the space between birth and death. I do need to go back and listen to the original sooner rather than later.

shame - Songs of Praise
92

Monstrous, raw, wild, thrilling and utterly brilliant. One of the best records of the year so far.

Hookworms - Microshift
90

I had never heard of Hookworms until they appeared in a Spotify playlist. Had to listen to the album and it totally blew me away. Up there with Shame as my favourite of the year so far.

Justin Timberlake - Man of the Woods
20

How could he seriously put out this garbage?. Clearly he has no shame, bring back the old talented Timberlake, its been a while....

The Wombats - Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life
68

Probably won't win any end of year Best Album awards but some catchy and clever tunes doing what they do best. Decent stuff

Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending
40

The album got some solid reviews but listening to it, i just didn't connect with it all. I wasn't sure if they were trying to recreat the old Franz Ferdinand or going for some new more electronic sound, seemed to be a degree of synth just mashed everywhere, it confused me. 2 or 3 decent tracks but not much else.

MGMT - Little Dark Age
80

Such a welcome return to form after 2 mediocre albums. Not as good as 'Oracular Spectacular' but not far off. Melodic glory.
