Okay but can your GOAT sing in so many languages??
Not a live show recording, not a studio album but a live in the studio album, yes you heard me right. Being recorded during their 1998 US tour, this is full of songs from Charlie and prior albums. Early Melt-Banana perfected, everything goes so hard on here.
MELT-BANANA IS SO HARD YOU WON'T HAVE ANY HARDNESS LEFT FOR YOUR COCK | 3+5 REDUX
Their shortest album to date! And it isn't a Cactuses Come In Flocks type deal, instead it's a continuation of the sounds on Fetch. No second wasted, all killer, no filler. A great comeback after 11 years.
Might be even better than Fetch.
It's very good but personally I prefer Cell-Scape (even with the intro and outro) over Fetch, something about it is just more balls to the walls for me. Doesn't mean Fetch won't melt your face off though!

Yet another industrial Merz release but compared to something like Material Action 2 N.A.M., this is a more entertaining affair. What's that? Rhythm? Heresy! Mechanization Takes Command switches between these more noisier tracks and dance music (well, the Merzbow kind), both are cool in what they do.
Best of the early 80s output I heard so far.

Not to be confused with Material Action for 2 Microphones! Thank god this replaced Yantra Material Action as the first Merzbow vinyl release because this is much much better. This sounds like one of those earlier discs in the Merzbox except more industral and with better execution and atmosphere.

LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS, LOOPS and LOOPS. The titles of the tracks are adequate because the enjoyment I got from this was nil. Truly lowest music 🔥🔥🔥
The best track isn't on this release but on the Merzbox (still not a good one though).

For Merzbow's first steps into Harsh Noise, this isn't bad! Not his best harsh noise output, who would've guessed, but definitely an important release.
This is certainly their weakest effort, doesn't mean I don't like it though! The band is experimenting here quite a bit, this gets much heavier and much poppier at times than ADORATIO and has a different atmosphere. Could they have done a better job? Yes, but even in this state INFINITUM did something as their next releases refine some of the sounds from this even more and end up with greater results.
I should probably be reviewing their debut first but whatever, this is one of the first albums I scored and it deserves a review. Now it's time for a little introduction to the band.
Sukekiyo is a visual kei supergroup consisting of Kyo (Vocals) from DIR EN GREY, utA of 9GOATS BLACK OUT (Guitar), Takumi (Guitar and Piano) & Mika (Drums) of RENTRER EN SOI and YUCHI (Bass) of Kannivalism. After 10 discs of the Merzbox, I can have a little Merzbow, as a treat.
I didn't expect to like a 80s Merzbow release so much, this is some really good stuff. Instead of ear-splitting noise from other releases, Antimonument goes into a more industrial direction, relying on loops of metallic sounds. Honestly haunting at times.
The bonus track, 3 Types of Industrial Pollution is pretty cool with its inclusion of drums.

20% of Merzbox done! Hurray! 🎉
Tapes, violin, piano, guitar, drums and others, is this gonna be the usual merzdeal? Not really! M.A and K.M's improv on here gets violent on your ears thus the noise becomes harsher.

Other early Merzbow releases did the same stuff, more interestingly.

I'm only taking the original tracklisting into account, no New Acoustic Music No. 7.
Material Action for 2 Microphones sounds like something from the Collection series except much better. There are samples all over the place now, especially on Yunin, Non Stop Disco.
Hoochie Coochie Scratched Man is the greatest Merzbow track name or atleast one of the greats, for sure.

Merzbow's first live show and recording of one! They're improvising with tapes, feedback, drums, organs, violin and more on here, bringing some good results. Crushing sound, dark atmosphere. Essential early Merzbow maybe?

This isn't even bad, what a nice surprise! This one has more rhythm compared to the other material I heard from the collection series.

It's ok, why is he doing the dishes on track 2 though??
Recorded in the 90s, probably at the same time as Exotic Apple from Merzbox as Exoking sounds similar to some of the Apple Rock tracks. So I guess if you enjoyed that you'll enjoy this.
This is one crazy album. A drum machine is playing for the entire runtime (only sometimes stopping), there's a surprising amount of samples and of course there's the noise. For a Merzbow release this is very danceable, does anyone want to throw a party?
Also this has a footwork secondary on RYM ... read more
A BUCK-TICK remix album, coordinated with Warp (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Richard Kirk) and Rising High (Neutron 9000, Hardfloor, Air Liquide, MLO, Oliver Lieb). This is mostly an IDM/Techno affair and well, most tracks on here aren't really special.
It's an alright listen, the remixes I would be most likely to return would be the Aphex one (which probably is just an original track he made, looking at his shenanigans) and Autechre's Don't X Ray Da DAT Mix.
Early new wave BUCK-TICK songs reimagined as classical songs. It's an interesting listen for sure.
Who even came up with this idea 😭
