My family is quite large, so much so that it's difficult to get together for events or even just to see everyone. However we would have this tradition where we all go out to this campground just off of the 395 highway in California. It's called Convict lake, it's just south of Mammoth lakes. It's a trailer pull in campground that just about anyone with a car, a tent, and some free time should check out if they find themselves in the area. Out family would fill up the inner ring of the place, one aunt and uncle + kids a spot. I made so many memories out there. Especially sitting around the fire and stargazing. I also would go backpacking in the mountains off the trail with family some years as well. I'm not sure how many people truly have been in the great outdoors. It's not often in this day and age to go out deep into nature and truly go exploring. One thing I will never get over is the sky at night, especially deep out in the desert or forest. You can see every little star, no matter how dim. The whole sky is visible to you, every little detail. It's truly breathtaking. Seeing the Milky Way with your bare eyes is an experience I hope everyone can have in their lifetime. However there's one thing I'll never really get over. Fucking mosquitoes, fuck those guys. Little shits that fly around your face and bite you, leaving you itchy for days. Some people have it worse than others, being a target for the nasty shits. I myself don't have it so bad but I digress, the outdoors would be better without mosquitoes.
This kinda sums up how I feel about the album. Im not much a fan of screamo. Just like how mosquitoes are annoying as shit, they belong in the outdoors. As much as I dislike screamo, I have to admit it works surprisingly well in this context, even enjoying its presence on the final track. However if you can look past that you can see the most beautiful instrumentation that exists in this genre. It's breathtaking, magical, emotionally charged, and overall a masterpiece that needs to be experienced by everyone if they get the chance.
