I was listening to this album while I was on a walk and it felt beautiful. The imperfections on the album make it feel amazing. The only song I didn't think was great was "Don't Play Cards with Satan" Only because I thought the screaming felt really out of place. Other than that, the songs are really lovely to listen to and I think I'll return to some songs often.
This album feels so surreal. I've known of "It's raining today" for a while now and I loved the song, but I never got around to listening to the full album. It feels like you're floating through time, in a really good way. The lyrics throughout the album are amazing and unique, reminding me of songs by Leonard Cohen, in a way. His voice fits the instrumentals quite well and is overall good.
I really enjoyed this album. It reminds me of Fugazi but a but softer. I found out about Shudder To Think through Jeff Buckley's "I Want Someone Badly" and to have them have a more Punk/Post Punk influence is very interesting. I think the songs are well-written and well-performed, however, I don't believe I'll return to the album very often. Still, a very strong album.
I thought this album was pretty good. I believe that the best songs do pop out very well and I think the guitar and bass work on the album is great. However, I also think that the performance of the drumming was okay, definitely not as great as some previous albums. Some of the songs on this album are beautiful though, like Goodbye Angels and Dark Necessities.
This is a childhood favourite album of mine. I love the performances from the album and the guitar tones are incredible. However, I feel the pacing of the album can be quite odd considering many of the songs have a very similar sound and tone, making it easy to mix and forget some songs. I do really love this album though and It is probably my favourite release by them. When they played "Regal Begal" live I was very happy.
Some of my oldest memories are of listening to CDs by bands like Stereophonics and Oasis. Listening to this album reminds me of listening to those albums when I was much younger, but now with an understanding of the meaning of the songs and the importance of the topics discussed. I love this album very much.
(edit) 88 => 100, This is one of my favourite albums of all time now, It's really grown on me and the lyrics hit harder every time I hear it. Really influential to my own music ... read more
I can't describe why I like this album so much. I think it's to do with the bittersweet hopelessness that persists throughout the album. I've loved this album for a long time now, and I think it has influenced me personally when it comes to my outlook on music and song-writing. I've listened through the album fully countless times and I will continue doing so. I do understand that the album definitely isn't for everyone, but I just really enjoy it.
This album is a no-skip album and the only reason I've put it below 90 is because I think some of the songs can start to feel repetitive after a couple of listens. This has some of Joy Division's strongest and most powerful songs like Twenty Four Hours and Isolation. Overall, a very good album.
This album is a very good send-off to a fantastic and creative musician. This album has, in my opinion, some of his best works, like King's Crossing and Twilight. I love this album and everything on it.
This is probably one of my favourite albums currently and has been for the past 4 years. The obvious thing to point out is how beautiful Buckley's voice is on this album. In songs like "Mojo Pin", "Lover, you should've come over" and "Lilac Wine", he really gives a soft, but very moving vocal performance. However, on tracks like "Grace" and "Eternal Life", he shows a very powerful and passionate version of his voice, which is performed very ... read more
I love this album. While I understand the album doesn't exactly expand on Indie music as a genre, I believe that the song-writing and performances on this album are fantastic. As a musician, I really appreciate the writing on songs like Poppy and Butterflies, I also love the performances on Teal and Epilogue. The slower songs on the album, I think, give a break to the listener after the more energetic songs like Leader of the Pack and Poppy.
My favourite songs on the album are, without a ... read more
