Havent listened to many Ali Project albums in full, but this might be my new favorite. There is ton of variety, such as trap, rock, jazz, and even an indian influenced track.
Such a jarring switch from Felt Mountain. Instead of the atmospheric and ambient approach, Goldfrapp decides to make an entire album using brash and dated production. The only songs I find memorable were the ones that didn't have harsh synths blaring in my ear.
This might need a relisten, but at the moment I'm so disappointed considering I gave Felt Mountain a 100.
Favorites: Black Cherry, Deep Honey
A full album based on D+B is bound to have it's downsides if the artist is not showing enough variety
Many songs add on an unnecessary jungle beat that makes the album sound more repetitive than innovative. Some tracks also felt aimless as well without any distinguishable qualities. But when the jungle works, it works. Cards on the Table and Killjoy show a perfect mix between Nia's vocals, lyrics, and production.
