the peace is one of the most impressive songs i have ever heard

Drake - ICEMAN
61

"I reserve it like I'm Aboriginal" bro are we serious?

There are some good tracks on here, but this is too lengthy for songs like "Make Them Know" to make any impact. I was so bored by the time I got to track 14, that every song that would've been good was bad or okay to me due to this album's repetitiveness and length.

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
74

Even if "Deadbeat" cannot outcompete its predecessors, that was never the point. Going into an album with the sole focus of comparison, especially when the genres are so different, can be fatal to enjoyment. I must admit, I didn't like this album at first listen. But, after a second listen, I changed my mind.

underscores - skin purifying treatment
68

underscores' ep "skin purifying treatment" is a battle of logic and emotion. the "big decision", which seems to be another central theme of the EP, is implied to be her gender identity/coming out. i actually like the skits (1, 5, last part of 7) because they enforce these themes. if you didn't notice btw the logic tracks are 1-4 and emotion tracks are 5-8

Denzel Curry - 32 Zel
64

denzel curry's "32 Zel" has some iconic moments, but certain segments feel like filler or are uninteresting.

honestly not too bad. there's always been people who despise this guy for his music, but there was clearly some potential here.

least favourite just being me

Earl Sweatshirt - solace

do not look at the comments on spotify. bad idea.

overall a soul-crushing 10-minute masterpiece detailing Earl's experiences with depression

ik that the whole purpose of my mixtape/playlist thing was to add all songs that were really good but there is NO way i am adding this.

Chappell Roan - School Nights

i mean it's aight like,

chappell roan's debut is the equivalent of this emoji: 😑

favourite: Meantime
least favourite: the rest

the sidepeices - lightskin niggas with darkskin problems

although the project was okay, i resonate with the fact that someone could have so many interesting and new ideas but kinda screw up with execution.

favourite: bih why u callin talkin bout a check stub
least favourite: track two

Jane Remover - Teen Week

an enjoyable listen :)

favourite: seventeen
least favourite: if i had to pick probably 52 blue mondays

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
91

Danny Brown's "Atrocity Exhibition" sees us immersed in a side of him that is no longer at that party but deeply thinking about his drug addiction.

Danny Brown - XXX
87

Danny Brown's "XXX" is a phenomenal experimental rap album that dives into themes of vices and the meaning of popularity in rap.

Â¥$ - VULTURES 2

Stop #1 of getting back into Kanye/Ye, backwards... because I am NOT trying to listen to this last. TCD will be a great finish btw.

Favourite: FOREVER ROLLING (8)
Worst: ISABELLA (interlude) BOMB (1)

"If you didn't know, that's kind of the idea, which is why there's the whole [Side A] and [Side B] thing. The first side discusses his past and how drugs have ruined his life, and the second views drugs in a more positive light for the most part and talks about his future and how drugs could affect it."
