Re-listened to this song blasting through the car stereo and it completely changed my perspective on it. I always loved the song, but hearing it so loud and clear was a holy experience. It’s probably the band’s most energetic song, and takes on such an electrical atmosphere that sounds FLAWLESS! I always considered giving the song a 10, and I can officially solidify that rating.
This album is so weird. Like I feel like I'm supposed to think some songs suck ass (Sweet Sunshine, Soul Suckin' Jerk), but at the same time they almost work. The entirety of the album is so haunting, it's a feeling Beck never really ever captured again. It's a raw, stripped down sound that feels ominous and creepy at most points, and I feel the longer you go down the tracklist the more you dwindle down into abnormality. It feels vulgar and ethereal. This is peak R.E.M. for me. Most fans tend to say they "sold out" after Document because they signed with Warner Bros and then released albums like Green and Out of Time. The hits HEAVILY overshadow the other tracks on this record, but I think every song that isn't It's The End Of the World or The One I Love is underrated. It's my favorite R.E.M. album right after Lifes Rich Pageant
